WIW: Ruffle haters look away - YouLookFab Forum

I love the colour orange (and any form of it – coral, peach, etc.) and I love a well-placed, meaningful ruffle. So what could make me happier than the two combined!

Today’s outfit started around this beautiful ruffled front coral-orange tank. I found this in my favourite consignment shop about a month ago and although a bit pricier for consignment, I had to have it. It is the most luxurious silk-blend fabric that feels amazing against the skin. I’ve paired it with my espresso Esprit trousers and then added my newly thrifted snakeskin belt for added texture. To work with the lighter taupe in the snakeskin, I’ve topped the tank with my gold linen blend blazer. I’ve popped on my Docs Danielle calfskin animal print shoes for more texture and colour. The Docs do take these pants dangerously close out of PPL but I think it’s still ok – BTW I’m holding up the pant leg in the second pic so you can see the Docs. For a bit more orange (‘cause you can never have too much orange!) I’m wearing my orange leather handbag.

So does this combination of colours, textures and shapes work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

It totally works! Orange is a great color on you. I love the ruffles

I like how you added the animal print and the linen blazer nicely tones down the strong colors.

Wonderful!! What a great combo. I don't hate ruffles. I just think the market was saturated with them and I got tired of them when they were all over everything. I find light colored belts to be very challenging for me. I can hardly ever get them to work. I feel like they draw too much attention to my midsection, whereas I would rather draw attention away from this area. I think I would prefer a dark belt with this. Just a thought!

I think this is a very nice color combination. I love the pairing of the blazer, belt and shoes as one grouping and the blouse and bag as another. That coral looks great against your skin.

I have a top that is very much like yours but in black. I still love ruffles and they work because I am a bit bigger on the bottom half so they balance me a bit.

I love the colors and textures you have put together. Another winner for sure.

You have beautiful shoulders, Shannon! I was still fashion-unconscious when ruffles were saturating the market, so to me the top looks fresh and fun. And OMG that color should be re-named "Shannon!"

I'm loving it! The only way to improve would be to focus on PPL, but the pants are not SO short that they look really weird imho. I am a huge fan of ruffles, so you get a thumbs up from me.

Ooh! I LOVE this, and I am a). not big on orange, and b) not big on ruffles.

Actually, the truth of the matter is I'm not big on orange for ME (love it on others) and ditto for ruffles, although I actually adore a well-placed one, myself, I am finding that it can be tricky for me, personally, to find the RIGHT ruffle.

Anyway, you won me over so you must be doing something right.

ALso, I really enjoy your outfit descriptions. Reading them is sort of like reading a great restaurant review!

That is a truly lovely tank. The orange is a really good one for your skin tone and the ruffles seem almost sculptural. I would have tried it on too! You put a great outfit together here. More orange in the bag, and animal pattern-mixing with the Docs and belt. Very nice!

Shannon, I love ruffles! This is a gorgeous combination. I particularly like the ruffles paired with what is primarily a tailored look with a bit of edge provided by the shoes.

I LOVE RUFFLES! I love orange, and I have a ruffled orange tank too. You look FABULOUS and happy in that outfit. I think the top would look great with white, khaki, heck, even red or fuschia if you had the nerve! Orange is a truly uplifting color.

Pretty! I prefer this with the blazer, but I think a colorful belt sans blazer would be super fun (red? orange? yellow? pink? neon??).

I love this color on you! Orange is one of my favorit colors although I only have it in a scarf,purse and jacket so far. Now I need a top in orange! All the warm tones in your outfit work beautifully and the docs add additional pattern and edge to the ensemble.
