WIW. Ruched sleeve cardigan.

The angle isn't very flattering, but this is the new cardigan I found on clearance for $15. Wish I could have found it in navy or another color, but I guess the green is very springy (I think it looks more neon in the pics than it is in real life). I need a new skirt. The silhouette on this one isn't the greatest. Any thoughts or suggestions? What kind of skirt would look best? A-line? Pencil? As always, give it to me straight. I'm trying to ease my way out of the frump that has been my SAHM wardrobe for the past 7 years. lol

(The shoes, belt, and camisole are all navy. Not sure if you can tell that from the pictures).

I like pencils, they are a classic to me. But that sweater is a beautiful colour on you, you should have a few items in that shade

I have what looks to be the same cardigan but in black and I tend to wear it over a patterned summer dress that has a pencil line skirt. I think it creates a nice sleek silhouette and balance. The colour on you is gorgeous and I do like the sleeves

Do you ladies think the fit is off? I can sort of button it up, but I wouldn't wear it that way anyway. Are the shoulders too big? There were only a couple of sizes available, so I went for the large. My shoulders/arms are probably more like a medium, but no way I would be able to button a medium.

You look lovely! I like the silhouette of the skirt, actually. The midi length is on trend, and the slight flare at the bottom gives a ladylike, slightly retro look. I like the tone-on-tone belting here, it adds a bit of flair, along with the punch of color in the cardi. This is a classic look, but not frumpy.

I think the large in the cardi works fine. You could probably wear a medium, but I think the large fits easily over the bust, and lays a little longer, which is a good proportion for you.

You say that you are interested in "unfrumping." Are there looks you particularly would like to emulate or move toward? The idea of "modernizing" is often in the forefront, but there are so many ways to accomplish this. Do you have any style icons? Favorite on trend clothing items?

The fit and colour are great on you. I wear a lot of short sleeved cardigans and I like pairing them with pencil skirts. What about a polished, dark wash denim?

Beth Ann, honestly I haven't given it much thought. I just lost all the baby weight (from #4, still have baby weight from #3 to lose), and I have just been looking for pieces that I feel comfortable in and that are flattering. I think I need to start pinning more. I can appreciate most styles but haven't quite figured out what my personal style or preference us. Comfort is key, though, since I'm a SAHM. I just want to feel like I'm somewhat put together, even if I don't leave the house.

Oh, how I love, love love this one! Both in colour and in style. What a happy buy this was! It is very nice styled as is with navy, the tulip skirt and with the shoes. The green suits your hair and complexion, emphasizing its milky, smooth quality: I would further the effect through jewellery: pick something smooth and milky, cream, very pale pink or transparent and delicate, either as a very delicate necklace or more solid dangling earrings. Flower patterns for example. But keep it subtle, as you don't want the jewellery to steal the show from the sleeves!

This cardi could also be worn with higher waist wide leg pants or even elephant legs; a flower printed dress or skirt.

Those cabbage patch sleeves are fun! And you look really pretty in that fresh colour green.

The cardi looks fantastic just as you've paired it with the fluted skirt, which I find more interesting than a pencil. More retro and elegant too. You have great style instincts.

I have 2 of these cardi's ( mine is an August silk brand) and love them more than any of my others. This was a good find and quite lovely on you.

Very cute cardigan. I love the color, and would have picked it over navy myself. I think the fit through the shoulder is fine. It looks like the seam is right at the top edge of your shoulder, which is where it should be with this style.

I think this is a great outfit and not frumpy at all. The skirt is an unusual style and I think it goes quite well with the green cardigan.

Well, you heard it from Angie, you have great style instincts! I think pinning is a great idea! I use it as a reward at the end of a dreaded task! I encourage you to think about both what is practical for your lifestyle and what you really love.
