WIW: Room for improvement

I haven't worn this top for a while but here it is twice within the space of a week.
It is a high lo top with an exposed zip in the back and has all my basic neutral colours.
I have paired it with a pencil skirt, chartreuse cardi and sandals - I like the high contrast.
Second outfit with black trousers, grey cardigan ( hard to see in the photo but the cardi has lace like sleeves) plus grey suede wedges. I thought this lacked punch so am now looking for an animal print belt to jazz this up or maybe swap the shoes for an animal print.

Suggestions for improvement welcome.

I like them both! The high contrast does suit you really well. But I like the tonal version as well. What about a printed cardi for some print mix? Or metallic shoes? If it's not too hot, a short statement necklace could also be fun. You could also try a longer duster-style cardigan, which might give you a bit more boho flair.

Oh my goodness! I love this outfit with the chartreuse and your beautiful silver cuff. Simple, elegant, and so sharp!

I also like the lower contrast but agree you could give it a bit of interest with an animal print belt, if you like. I think it's already probably more appealing IRL because the lace would add textural interest that's not visible here, and the trousers are probably really nice in movement.

These are both fab. I love the light shoes with the pants. So much more interesting with the dark bottoms. The sandals and skirt look terrific too. I think it definitely works. I love Aida's idea about a metallic sandal to soften the look too. So pretty!

Aida - love the idea if metallic shoes. Strangely I'm moving away from lots if jewellery - in the past I probably would have been keen to add a necklace but I'm kinda liking it without.
Diane - hadn't considered a white belt .
Suz - thank you & yes the low contrast outfit did look a lot more flattering IRL.
Kelly - yes definitely keen on the metallic footwear idea.

I love the combination of the strong graphic black/gray/white with the citron (and am jealous citron looks so good on you! it's one of the few colors I really can't wear because it is so unflattering with my skin tone --it looks amazing on you)!

You could try introducing an accent piece or shoe in a gray/black/white python print if you wanted wanted to try upping the edginess or pattern mixing.

Watching this with interest as outfit #2 is similar to what I would wear. As the others have said, it looks good but understand about wanting to wind up the style factor.

Wow, Kiwichik, both outfits look beautiful on you. The cuff adds a special touch and polish. For colder weather you might add a carefully chosen scarf. I could see one in white or light grey with small widely spaced black dots.
I love the print of your top. It feels more organic than geometric. A floral, leaf print, or ethnic print could be interesting with it. I like the ideas of others for belts or metallic footwear if you want to change things up.

I like the pop of color in the skirt outfit, but you might want to consider different sandals. The T-strap cuts the line of the leg; a pump or more open sandal might be something to try.

Thanks ladies lots of useful advice here.

Trying - I know what you mean about the sandals they break all the rules for those of us with cankles but I really love them and they are soooo comfortable hopefully they meet Angie's just flattering enough description.
