WIW Red High Tops sneakers and black ...

Dear Fabbers,
Today I made a new attempt to style the orphan Liebeskind red sneakers. I wore this outfit for some Saturday afternoon errands and shopping. I combined the sneakers with black cropped rather slim trousers, red jacket and floral scarf. Added a black structured cross-body bag and a pair of sunglasses.
I was quite pleased with the outfit, apart from the sneakers, Lol. I don’t seem to manage to wear them well - they are so flat and clumsy.... This pair of trousers was actually the least bad with the sneakers of all I have tried. Maybe I should just forget about the high tops and wear these under a pair of full length wide leg trousers for a pop of color.
What do you think?

These are great sneakers, so I vote KEEP. My 2 cents? You need a little more street style/athleisure up top to balance the look. The pants work - but the blazer style jacket is too formal. Try a slouchy oversized sweater - cream, maroon, black - whatever you’ve got - and the biggest, slouchiest bag from your closet. Keep it true to you style sensibility by tieing a co-ordinating silky scarf around the handle of the bag.

I like this outfit. But I suspect that you will never find an outfit that makes you want to keep these sneakers.
they are so flat and clumsy. To me, that’s your answer. Donate and move on.

I agree with Runcarla,l think the reason you feel that something is jarring is that the top half is much more formal than the vibe of the sneaker,maybe try a jacket with a more casual vibe like a denim or a bomber style jacket and see how that feels.

Agree with Carla - and Angie too. I personally would style them with a less formal blazer, but the one you are wearing works more true to your own style.

I think they work really well here and I wonder if you felt flat because they are flat. Under full length is good too but this works really well to my eye.

Agree that you look terrific. Wondering if you rarely wear flat shoes and that's throwing off your walk and stance, causing you to feel that the shoes *look* flat and clumsy, which they don't at all.

I love the look, Katerina! I had a similar thought to Carla, that you could pair them with a little less structured jacket and bag. Maybe you would like that harmony better. The juxtaposition of the sneakers with the more tailored pieces is very current to my eye, though. Those are some amazing sneakers--the color, textures, and design.

Torontogirl, thank you. You are so kind. You know, I like all kinds of bold colours and wear them happily, whether they are good on me or not You are so good with colours and I am very glad you like this light red.

Runcarla, thank you very much for the feedback. It is vary valuable for me. I don´t have many knitted items in my wardrobe and slouchy sweaters are not present I have a couple of asymmetrical black knitted sweaters - I will try with these and a hobo bag, it will be interesting I probably should get me a slouchy sweater this season...

Kkards, thank you for chiming in. I am afraid you are right, it doesn´t sound like I am going to be happy with these no matter what... I like the way they are made, the colour, the retro vibe.... BUT i don´t like them with my outfits. I will try a bit more, make me a deadline until end of November

Cardiff girl, thank you - a bomber style jacket is a great idea. I have a bomber style olive coat - that might work nicely with red.

Lisa P., thank you! You are very right. I love Carla's and Cardiff girls ideas very much. Not sure, however, if the outfits will feel like me. I will definitely try though, I will not know before I try.

Shevia and Vildy, thank you for looking and for the feedback. They are flat and so they do feel flat. I wear some flat sneakers which are flat with ankle pants and summer dresses - but somehow, these feel very flat - I guess it is the wider shape and the high tops. But to tell you the truth, I prefer a slightly higher heel - around 5 cm feels ideal. Most of my other footwear are of that height.

Firecracker, thank you for the feedback. I agree with Carla and others about the less structured top part of the outfit. I will try with the few sweaters I have and a bomber coat. I am glad you like the juxtaposition - it is what I was going for, but something didn't feel quite right with this one.

I was thinking the same thing as Carla... that your top half was just a bit too polished to go with the vibe of the sneaker. They look great, but if it's not you, it's not you. It doesn't make a lot of sense to go and buy a ton of stuff to make them work. I like the idea of giving yourself a deadline to see if they fit into your closet - make sure you share your experiments! Hmm, maybe do a style lab if and when you have some time?
