So my pre-order of the Rag & Bone miramar pajama jeans arrived yesterday (a couple of weeks ahead of when it was due to ship. Yay)! The timing on arrival was perfect because, not to overshare, boy was I feeling hormonally puffy yesterday! So wearing sweatpants that looked like old jeans were just the ticket!
After trying on the XS at Intermix and finding them just too big and baggy I went with the XXS. I think they fit just about as perfectly as I'd want them to. Slouchy fit but not too big/slouchy. They aren't even too long on me (although they are by no means cropped looking either).
I think they have the right amount of slouchy scrunch worn at ankle length and maybe just a hair too much scrunch when I push them up to rest on the calf -- but the whole look of them is meant to be a bit disheveled, so I didn't mind the excess volume when I wore them pushed up on the calf (I also provide two inspiration photos --one that shows a model with way longer legs than mine wearing them similarly with a heel and pushed up on the leg and one just showing the basic sneaker/jeans styling).
Yesterday I actually got to wear them both ways. I worked half the day from home and then had to head into the office for meetings and to conduct an interview of a candidate we had coming in (That's how casual my office environment is. I can conduct interviews and vendor meetings dressed like a bag lady!)
The entire outfit is the same with the exception of the shoes. I threw on converse sneakers to take my dogs for a walk before I headed into the office (Oscar is recovering well from his surgery and this is the first week he's been allowed to go on short walks as he recovers. Dash (the doxie you most often see photo-bombing my WIW photos) is so excited as well, since his walks have been limited because of Oscar.
When it was time to head into the office I switched to a pair of ivory white platform sandals and pushed the pants up onto my calf.
Rather than try to dress them up or try something unique and different with the styling I opted to just wear the pajama jeans with fun basics. A graphic tee, moto jacket and scarf. Pretty RATE and very comfortable.
These were definitely worth the splurge.
One other funny thing to note. When I got the notice the jeans had shipped and when they were due for delivery I let me BF know to stay home until the package arrived (UPS has an uncanny knack for attempting to deliver packages in the only 10 minutes of a day that no one is home).
So he knew I was excited to get them. So when I put them on and walked into the room to show him, the dialogue went like this:
Me: "look at how cool these are!"
BF: "why are your new jeans dirty?"
Me: "They're not jeans."
BF: "Yes they are. I'm looking right at them. And they look like you got sent dirty ones.
Me: "Look again."
BF (gets up close and touches them): "Are those sweatpants?" (he says incredulously)
Me: "Yup. Made to look like old vintage jeans."
BF: "okay, that's kinda cool, even dirty looking."
Even when he doesn't get my taste in fashion he still appreciates it
