WIW -- Purse from Renata and Tucking Question

Renata found this tooled leather Western bag at a thrift store and decided it wasn't quite her style. I had expressed admiration for the bag in her thread so she contacted me and I happily agreed to find a new home for it.

It arrived today from Renata in Western Canada. Here are some pictures. I plan on wearing this outfit to a meeting with a rancher tomorrow; the Western look of this bag is so perfect for my lifestyle!

#1-3: There has been debate on YLF about tucking vs. not tucking. Here I am wearing the same items three ways: #1 tucked, #2 not tucked but belted, and #3 neither tucked nor belted. Which looks best?

#4: Renata included a scarf in the box which I am wearing with my chunky furry coat. It's a very toasty scarf and matches the bag and my coat.

Wow - I LOVE reading stories of generosity on here. What a fabulous bag - I can see why you love it. It also sounds perfect for your lifestyle!

I generally have no clue with these kind of things, but I actually really like the tucked in look in #1. (But then again, I'm a tucker from way back, so this look is very natural to my eye.) Otherwise, I like the concept of it being belted in #2, although I'd perhaps prefer the belt to be a little thicker, it seems a little lost against the pattern of the top.

I also love the texture of the scarf. Lucky you! Have a good meeting tomorrow.

I really like #1 (tucked), and I agree with Katie that #2 needs a more substantial (and possibly darker) belt. Great bag and scarf, how lovely to receive from Renata!

Well, this exchange must be the second next best thing after the ylf swap! I love no.1 and 2, agree that the belt might need to be a bit bolder, but the main thing I wanted to say is that the bag really has your name on it. Brilliant

I did try the look with a thicker belt but is it too thick? I have one in medium thickness that is black, I guess that would work too.

What an awesome story--yay Renata! Like everyone, I love this tucked. It's Modern Western or something--too cute! I like it belted too (the wider belt is great), but I wonder if you should wear the belt a teensy bit lower, so just below your natural waist?

I think the thicker belt is perfect, not too thick at all. The black would work too, especially paired with the dark jeans.

I got back from the meeting with the local rancher and he has 5 grass fed cows he will sell us for our summer restaurant premium beef menu offerings. I felt confident in this modern take on the Western look!

Glad to hear your meeting went well! Always amazes me how much better we feel when we dress with confidence.

Well, late to the party here but I just wanted to say I love the story, the bag AND the blouse. I originally was going to say "tucked" as my fave but with the new photo, I really like the look with the wide belt. Fantastic!
