I have loads of drapey black things in my closet, although I rarely sport all black from head to toe, so today's ensemble was right up my alley. I really love how this one turned out, and I think I might have to do all-black more often!
I started with my Allsaints voluminous, drapey tee, and layered a long vest (that itself has some built-in layering with a double lapel on one side and a chiffon detail at the bottom hem) over. For the outdoor version, I then added my Spiegel lemming jacket and a handknit, marled charcoal scarf (so I guess technically this outfit is not all black...). On the bottom half, I have my slouchy black trousers and pointy black booties. The trousers actually have a cool tie waist detail, but I couldn't really semi-tuck all the voluminous layers to show it off; on the other hand, the tee is so voluminous that the weird lump from the tie doesn't show at all, the way it does with a lot of other tops.
I really like how all the blacks are slightly different, as well as how there are many different textures in play here. Adds to the post-apocalyptic vibe (because let's face it, we won't be wearing matching suits at the end of the world...) and adds interest.
Black tote is my default bag for laptop-carrying purposes, because even at the end of the world I need my personal technology. Gotta check YLF, you know.
