WIW Polka dot skirt - YouLookFab Forum

I just love polka dots - they are so cheery and happy looking:) I wore a new black and white polka dot accordion-pleated skirt today. I added a little color - the shirt under the black wrap shirt is purple. I wore black tights because I don't have any other color - are colored tights or any tights OK for us 50 year old gals?

I never like the way the flash hits me or my outfits - the black wrap shirt looks all wrinkly and shiny but it's really not.

I also got in a little pattern mixing - my glasses have a zebra print on the side!

I didn't wear these boots with it today, I wore black ballet flats (super comfy) but do these booties look OK? I have been looking for booties that have a tighter fit around the ankle, but haven't been able to find any in my size

I like the booties. The outfit is very figure flattering!

I don't see why not wear other colors of tights.

Oooh clapping hands -love the polka dot skirt and the purple peeking yout from under that great jacket. You totally rock those booties and I think you could most defninitely wear coloured tights.

I really like this on you. The wrap shirt is very flattering, and the pop of purple is lovely.

I think the booties look very on trend with this.

As for tights, I see no reason why you cannot wear tights at 50. Just because you are a certain age, does not mean your legs stop getting cold!

I think it looks fab with the booties, definitely wear that combo out and about! As for the tights, I personally favor printed or textured tights over colored but they are certainly worth a shot especially they're a more subtle color.

What a fab, fun, outfit!! You look terrific in this. Love the subtle pattern mix. And the booties look great in this picture! Some people prefer them loose like this; others like them snug around the ankle. All depends on your personal preferences. You have the slender legs to wear them either way.

Erm, I'm 59 and I bought bright blue tights to match my bright blue booties just because I think it gives my short legs a longer line. I wouldn't wear this blindingly BRIGHT combo to work, but I did wear it to the theater. I think more subdued colors, i.e., anything but what I bought, look great on any age.

I love the skirt - wish I could see the details of those pleats though - from the pic it just looks like a gathered skirt - darn! I have those same booties and I wear them with skirts - they are definitely big around the ankles, but with those booties, I think its an "ok" look! I think I would try wearing a more structured top with this skirt. The skirt with the polka dots and the length of the skirt, along with the boots, are a pretty cheeky look, and I think that it would look better with something more sleek/structured/serious? on top! I love the purple added to the outfit - that looks super. Also, I would consider *really* mixing your patterns by wearing a microfishnet tight or some other patterned black tight as opposed to just a plain black. But that's just me - I have a poison eye to plain black tights!

This is a great outfit. Love polka dots. The booties are a great choice here. I agree with Aida, re textured and patterned tights over coloured. However, there is no reason why you shouldn't wear coloured tights if you want to.
