WIW plus gray hair progress pic

I'm loving my new gray Born boots! I've worn them multiple times since I got them and they feel like old friends on my feet. I'm so glad I managed to snag a pair. The top half of my outfit is all from the Gap with Levi jeans on the bottom. Input welcome!

On to my hair.... I'm about halfway done growing it out. I'm getting it cut on Friday so we'll see how it looks then. Do I love it? Not really. But I wouldn't love it colored either. What I want is my original brown color without all of the upkeep and that isn't an option. I don't like the new, rough texture but can't do a lot about that either. I'm trying to just accept what is. I'm not one who wants to keep coloring forever, so this is just the way it is. My goal is to maintain good haircuts and learn to accept it. I use a lot more product on my hair than I ever have, especially serums to add extra moisture and control. Input is also welcome, just realize I'm not likely to be talked into coloring again.

Wow, you look great, Brenda! Love the WIW and I think the grow out is looking good. I bet getting it cut will help with the overall process too--in terms of keeping it healthy looking.

Your natural hair color looks great! The tweedy jacket and gray boots are such a good match for your hair. None of the women in my family ever colored their hair, so I'm very used to this look. Your hair is the same color that my mother's was when she was younger, and hers went gray very gracefully.

I think you look lovely -- sort of "classy equestrian". Love the bookending of the jacket with the boots (which are, BTW, stunning). I know what you mean about the gray hairs. They have a totally different texture than the other ones... and a mind of their own when it comes to styling. And that is something that is not remedied by coloring. I have been dying over my gray for 25 years... and wish I had never started with that because now I am not sure how I'd grow it out. And I hate the expense and fuss of coloring. I say -- hang in there with the growing out process for a bit longer. It will probably be worth it in the long run. I think the gray will actually look quite fab on you. It appears to be a nice silvery shade.

Brenda, you look fantastic. The new boots are fab on you! So glad you found a pair. As to the hair, I think it is just a question of continuing to cut it until it's all grown out. I have heard that you really can't tell in the in-between stages....it will look much better when it's all in. And behave better, too.

I still have not decided absolutely what to do with mine. I'm going to show my stylist my pins when I see her and see if she thinks I'm truly ready (i.e. my hair is at that point where I can get some of the looks I want after grow out.)

As for your hair, I am not yet in your shoes, so take me with a grain of salt. I think you are going the right way, as long as you are comfortable with it. I am not sure when or why we as a culture decided grey hair was not okay on women, but it is distinguished on men!

Regarding your hair, I think it's going to look really great. I went grey this year. It turned out to be a bright silver, which kind of surprised me. I love the low maintenance. Most people like it, but not everyone. I have been mistaken for a senior citizen! (I am middle aged.) Be prepared for everyone (but not here) telling you what to do with it. Everyone has an opinion, it seems.

You look great in that outfit... your hair is looking fine and you know I am one who made the change myself and I am sooo pleased with that decision. I literally have people come up to me in stores and pull me aside from business meetings to comment on my hair so keep at it for the reward! yep more product but you sort that out at a new plateau... keep at it Brenda and cant wait to see it after the cut on Friday. At this stage think I kept much of the length but had it thinned which cut off a lot of the dyed hair... it was a big step and made the final phase much easier... lovely!

Ok, you look great but I have to tell you as a fellow brown to grey, grey hair needs a lot more conditioning than colored hair. The coloring process smooths out the outer shaft of your hair and on the other hand grey hair tends to be drier and coarser than naturally brown hair. When you rinse the conditioner out of your hair, don't rinse too well - really! And then add more conditioning product. Use more expensive stuff if possible (keratase is the best I have found but I also use phyto). And I use hair mask as conditioner. And I only shampoo once in a while. And my hair still looks to dry to me sometimes!

Go Brenda! I'm so happy that women are taking back the option of allowing their hair to grey. Most of mine is in the crown. Isn't it interesting how differently the greying process develops?

Love the jacket, the boots, and the Levis. I love the Levi pocket. Simple and classic, well sized and placed. It's my premium denim!

I like the boots a lot! I am watching your journey to gray with interest. I am waiting for the time when I am MOSTLY gray before I stop coloring. Right now, I am a little over 50% gray and so I have a ways to go. I do admit that maintaining the color is a hassle. Especially since the grays that are coming in are bright silver and resist color. And stick up like little silver antenae!

Oh, wow, have I been neglecting the forum! It's so exciting to see your progress with your hair this way. DH is graying, too, and is having some of the same texture issues. Cannot wait to see it after the cut!

I really love those gray boots (and how Athleta styles their boots - perfect MOTG outfits)! This is a really great, classic look and to my eye it works so well on you. I also love the color of your hair coming in/growing out. I'm very fair-skinned/light-haired and always wished I would've gotten my dad's genes. He had thick, dark beautiful hair and when the silver came it was gorgeous...very much the same as yours. Hoping you post a photo after the cut!

You look great! I second the recommendations for Phyto and Kerastase. Their products really help my naturally tending toward dry and coarse hair.
ETA: I have been wondering lately how gray boots incorporate into a wardrobe, so it's nice to see an example.
