WIW: plaid pants with Converse

I just bought these pants from Zack's (Canada). I like them because they're pull-on with an elastic waistband. They don't taper which is great -- they actually look a bit bootcut in the website. They're lightweight and machine washable, but I would probably hang to dry.

We'll see how long they last as they're a rayon blend. The Zack's website isn't great. This was the only website I could find with them:

Related to Angie's post, I wore them with Converse as I'm trying to dress down a little more so I don't appear too precious. (My natural inclination would be to pair the pants with black, patent leather loafers.) Also, I'm wearing socks because I wanted my 4 yr old to also wear socks. Top: wool Fred Perry polo.

Love it! I have a fashionable female coworker for the first time in quite a while, and she does a lot of sporty plaid pants looks - I'm a huge fan. I like the sporty stripe down the side. And is your sweater top a golf style with a bit of a puffed sleeve? It all comes together very nicely.
I'm also in Canada but not familiar with Zack's. Thanks for the link.

Thanks Jules! Yes, it's sort of a golf style although the collar is more of a shawl style rather than a true golf shirt polo style. I'm not sure about the sleeves. I will have to look at them again.

Well done. You should invest in a pair of black converse as well - to bookend your hair. It will ground any outfit. The stripe down the side is fabulous, and is that a red thread running through the plaid ? Love, love, love the trousers! I believe Tribal is a decent brand.

Ah I see, I live in Toronto and they are only outside of the downtown core
I wish I had worn socks yesterday - I think this rain & cold officially marks the end of the sockless season.

Great pants, and great styling! I've had good luck with Tribal items - good price and good value. Decent customer service too when ordering on-line. I'm wearing plaid pants and sneakers today too

My mom loved Zack's; she was not one to buy the same old, same old from the mall and always found some great, interesting, and high-quality stuff there.

Thanks Runcarla. I should get black Cons! I've had navy blue high tops, but black would be fun. Yes, there is a red stripe running through the plaid, so wearing a red top to accent the red in the plaid would be fun.

Yes Jules. I think you're right about the end of the sockless season! I looked at the sweater again. The sleeves aren't puffed, but there is a welt around the hems so I think that's why they give the impression of being puffed.

Thank you Inge, Angie and slim cat! I'm laughing at the sock strategy too because my daughter mimics what I do, so if I don't wear socks (or if I have short "hidden" socks) she wants to copy me. It can make for some interesting mornings after we're both dressed...

Thank you torontogirl. Too funny. I was with my mom (and daughter) when I bought the pants. haha! I find the store akin to Laura or Melanie Lyne. Some things are fun, although I find I have to sort of filter my choices through a vetting process of "Would my mom wear this?"
