I'm having a lot of fun with this Spring Challenge. It's been a good distraction from mourning the death of my step-father. Dressing like art is not new to my household. My DD has a series of paintings based on her colorful clothing choices which she posted recently on her Tumblr site. This makes me feel happy and connected to her :-). I'm sure the people I work with today are going to wonder what I am wearing!!

I picked this for St. Patricks Day because of the green. The green on her neck reminded me instantly of my J. Crew green turtleneck. That was the start of my inspiration. Then I started digging around my closet. I knew I had to use several shades of blue and red. I see round circles as well and wanted to capture that as well as wavy lines and the gentle sloping curves of the shawl, and chair. Once again there is color blocking here so I wanted to make my outfit look a bit color - blocked and asymmetrical as well.

1. J Crew Denim Pencil Skirt for one shade of blue and gentle curve
2. Cobalt Blue Wolford Tights for a second shade of blue
3. Aquatalia Burgundy Red boots to pick up the burgundy red of the background on the left of the picture
4. Royal blue cashmere poncho scarf over left shoulder to represent the royal blues in the painting, and the assymetry of the shawl.
5. Red ruffle scarf to pick up the orange-red of the couch, and this time it is all around me. The ruffles echo the yellow wave on the shawl.
6. Sea Glass Green J Crew Turtle neck sweater for the green of her neck and shoulders.
7. Yellow circular earrings for her beaded necklace.
8. Round buckle on belt for the circular face and her chest.
9. The red and yellow/green floral pattern on my belt echo's the pattern in the royal blue and the shawl.
10. Red ball necklace to echo the "dots" on her chest (Well, what can I say here? I have a sense of humor, and I had the necklace so I had to include it! )
11. Yellow Jill Sander purse to echo the picture frame
12. Yellow round earrings to echo the beaded necklace.
13. My green glasses - because it's St. Patricks day and to further tie the circular theme together!

What do you think? Definitely a step outside the box huh?
