WIW: People Like Matchy-Matchy

I got so many compliments today, because my bag matched my shoes. Who knew?

Sweater (Boden) - 35 wears

Top (Lucky Brand) - 7 wears. I had to retire its twin after 13 wears, because of a hole. Not the best purchase, but this is on my "wear like heck" list right now, as it has a limited useful season.

Jeans (Target) - 71 wears

Tote (Fossil) - 68+ wears. I'm not consistent about tracking bags.

Shoes (Converse) - 12 wears. New this spring.

Hair is up in a ponytail to keep it out of the way for the dentist. My stylist is off maternity leave, so I finally will get it cut next week!

People do love matchy matchy and I am among them! Here it is modern because the textures are different and the dressy factor is slightly different and the white caps/ laces change up the shoes...that is just enough (IMO) to take it out of 1960s territory.

I feel like you can get away with using almost any color of shoe/bag/belt with any outfit as long as you match them--looks intentional. Nice outfit--I'm a fan of your cognac Cons and they look fantastic with the bag.

Ha, matchy matchy was one of those thing that I could not fathom as a younger person. I have finally matured enough to appreciate the visual cohesion it brings and even employ it myself at times. You look fab!

Last week I got compliments on a matchy matchy bag and shoe combo too (gold metallic). They didn't really match. The loafers are a metallic gold but low shine and perforated leather. The bag has a very shiny finish that even needs finger prints polished off of it. I have finally found some flats that echo the color of my red bag. Long live matchy footwear and bags for a cohesive look.

What ? I love this blouse on you ! And I'm now going to be uber cognizant of # of wears when I post outfits- although I already know what I post is what i wear the least ......lol.

Joy, sometimes I wonder if people just like your whole outfit and they fixate on something like that to have something specific to compliment you on.

shevia, you'll notice I couldn't resist wearing my leopard leather bracelet. I have a cognac one, but that was too much.

JAileen, I have an app for tracking wears, so I've just gotten in the habit of doing it every day. Sometimes, there are weeks straight when I forget, so I'm sure my counts aren't entirely accurate.

Runcarla, I really like my Fossil bag, too, and have been looking at their crossbodies as a possibility.

EmilyK, as Angie's post today will attest! The cognac Cons get a lot of compliments on their own, as well. I think it's just because they're unusual.
