Nearly a year ago, I went to Dublin, and fell in love with that city, HARD. I am not Irish, but oh my goodness, Ireland felt like coming home.

So when I found this shirt at Goodwill the other day, I squealed with joy and put it in my cart. I spent another hour browsing, found a few other things (that I bought)… and then put this shirt back. Why??? I don’t know.

Well darned if I wasn’t regretting my decision by the time I got home. And if you thrift, you know there is one Universal Law of Thrifting : if you don’t grab it when you see it, someone else will.

Two days later, I got back to the store, and rapture! it was still there. I treated some stains, laundered it carefully, and wore it today for a band rehearsal.

“Papa Ralph” is how Adina of ‘Blue Collar, Red Lipstick’, refers to Ralph Lauren in her outfit posts, and I’ve adopted the habit. None of these pieces are RL, but the inspiration is from different seasons of Polo, and their discontinued Denim & Supply line. Preppy, and a bit athleisure.

The entire outfit, excluding jewelry, has been thrifted over the past five years. I bought the jacket during the pandemic, when things reopened.

Jacket: Trovata Vintage Tweed
Shirt: Old Navy
Belt: Frye
Shorts: Loft
Boots: the brand stamp is faded, but they are leather, made in Brazil.
Bag: IIIBeca by Joy Grayson

With tax, this outfit came in under $40.

I’m going to wear the shirt again tomorrow, in a different outfit. Happy St. Patrick’s Day! (even though I bat for the pagans).
