Thank you for all of the thoughtful comments. The air quality is still abysmal but the fire is at least 50% contained now. It’s a load off of my mind and I feel much better--still kind of worn out but I think that seems to be par for the course these days.
@runcarla: thank you. i had my eye on that color and style for awhile and finally decided roll the dice and try my usual size. Perfect!
@Jaileen: Haha! Oreo thanks you. We did video our rooms and sort of decided that everything we have got our money’s worth out of almost everything. The only thing of value was really the house itself.
@the Cat and Torontogirl: Thank you! Glad that I can give the illusion of calm!
@Robin: Thank you. Yes, the photo albums were in the to go box too!
@Laurie: Thank you and right?!! Palo Alto has a lot of wooded areas--portola valley, stanford, etc. The air quality there was horrible--I’ve never seen it so bad driving up 280. #6 is a bit snug these days but thank you!
@avicennia: I was a bit surprised that I actually thought about my closet to be honest but it’s taken a long time to get it the way I want it--kind of a labor of love.
@Mainelady: Thank you!
@Catherine: Thanks! So many fires in the west--it seems like everything was on fire. I’ve never seen anything like it.
@kkards: Thank you. I try not to think about that...
@MsMaven: Agreed! Looking forward to blue skies--I will try not to take it for granted any more. Hope your kitties are relaxing a bit. Oreo seems to be back to normal now--definitely less clingy!
@Joy: Yes! You are so right. I put on a skirt that I had been “saving” just the other day to realize that it’s a bit snug. This was a wake up call for many things! Thank you.
@Aquamarine: Thank you!
@shevia: Thank you. I hope you never have to grab and run either!
@slimcat:Thank you. We ran the AC a bit too but we were also worried about rolling black outs and tried not to use it as much as we normally would when it is hot. If it’s not one thing, it’s another!
@stylefan and notsaf: Thank you!
@sal: Thank you. I could never figure out the seasons but I definitely think I lean toward dark autumn. I think I was cooler toned when I was younger--so more winter-y. Not anymore!
@Brooklyn: Thank you! Those bush fires were devastating! I’m so grateful that they were able to get the bay area ones under control.
@minaminu: Thank you. That’s a great idea--about the rucksack. I have all of our important papers in one place now so that’s a start and I dug out the cat carrier. I printed out a list of items to collect based on how quickly the evacuation order comes down--from immediate, few hours, days.
@Nemosmom: Thank you!
@Bijou: Thank you! Yes, I had a haircut and it was fabulous. Hair salons just opened for indoor service today so hopefully the next one won’t be 5 months away!
@Cardiff girl: haha. Thank you. It’s hard to know what to expect these days so I’m going to wear what I want, now!
@Staysfit: Thank you! How terrible for your neighbor! I know all of my cat’s hiding places and hopefully the power will be on so I can start the vacuum to get him to move! I could live without most of my stuff but I would be devastated if I lost my animals. I can’t even bear to think about the possibility.
@lyn67: Thank you!
