I have been having a lovely few days as we transition from 2014 into 2015. I hope you all have, too!!

1. New Year's Eve was a party at the home of some friends with a fabulous outdoor entertaining space, so the dress code was "festive but warm." I felt just fine in this outfit, particularly since I had tights under my jeans. Thanks to their outdoor heaters I didn't even have to pull out the extra black sweater I had in my bag for "just in case!"

Black turtleneck: Ann Taylor
Leopard cardi: Halogen
Black boots: Frye

2. New Year's Day my friend and dance teacher and her boyfriend came over to watch the Rose Bowl football game with me and my gentleman friend. It was especially fun because it was the first chance to entertain in the new TV-watching room. They are big Oregon fans so even though I didn't have any official Oregon gear I layered a green tee from my gym with a gold long-sleeve tee from Target and called it a day.

3/4. Friday I got busy and got my Christmas tree down and put away (behold the space where it used to be!), and the universe rewarded my industriousness in the form of an invitation to a fab sushi place from Gentleman Friend. This is basically a remix of the New Year's Eve outfit, but with an Old Navy red pullover and a gray polka dot cardi from Costco. The scarf is a beloved souvenir of my trip to Cambodia.

5/6. Yesterday I did nothing but go to my tap class, where we had a very "Tappy" New Year! Just GAP boyfriend jeans and a gray-on-gray tee from Target. I'm wearing my black belt with the gold studs but I don't think you can see it. The last photo shows what my neighborhood looked like during and for two days after the Rose Parade -- the parade routs is just a block away and the post-parade float viewing is just three blocks away, so it gets pretty crazy! I don't mind it, though. We could actually hear the bands marching by on New Year's Day as we watched the parade on TV! And even though I didn't quite make it out of the house to look at the floats, it was fun to know I could have if I'd wanted to! LOL

Happy New Year, Magical Mary. I have missed your posts. Good job layering with tights to keep warm for the outside bash. That's a great casual and chic outfit.

How fun are you with your dance friends and sports friends. You'll have to do a little tap dance for me when we next meet. Great that you could officially christen the new TV room.

Your house is becoming a truly special home, and that's the real gift in all of this. Thanks for being a die-hard patient Veteran by assisting and supporting our forum newbies so consistently. Although your house took top priority in 2014, you continued sharing with and supporting our YLF community. That means a lot to me. xo

Happy New Year! Your posts are always a treat and you look stylish all the way! Love you in brights. The Christmas tree is coming down here, too, though the tradition around here is to keep it 20 (!!) days after Christmas eve! I never understood that - I like the American-Christmas-all-Dec better.

I especially love the "sushi" outfit. Nodding to Angie's words: you wear colors like nobody else and it is always a pleasure to see your technocolor outfits.
P.S. enviously looking at New Year outdoor pictures and the fact that your New Year celebration was outdoors without a need for a warm sweater...and looking at the freezing rain outside of my window...

Ah, memories from long ago of taking kids to the Parade. DH grew up in the area, so he knew which streets were the last to close and where to park. He'd put a ladder in the car and we'd find a spot and put the kids on the ladder.

These days I'm content to watch it on TV.

Nebraskim, my door is open whenever you are ready to cross the Tournament of Roses off your bucket list! MsMaven, your DH was right that a ladder definitely makes parade viewing easier! But it was COLD this year so I was happy to stay snuggled up at home!

Rachylou, I do not ride. Horses, bicycles, or really much of anything except the car. LOL But I would be happy to meet you for apres-hunt cocktails any old time!

Lynn, we are still a couple of months away from having the house completely finished, but when it's ready my designer is planning to bring in a professional photographer and you'd better believe there will be a virtual tour!!

Those outfits with the tall boots and skinnies are stunning. You look so sleek and fabulous and the other JFE--just festive enough! Fun photo in the tap studio, and your home is so lovely inside and out. I can just imagine watching a movie in that TV room! (Not a football fan, here.)
Your talk of the nearby Rose Parade reminds me: when we lived in So Cal for two years in junior high, my dad took me to the parade both years. We parked on a residential street somewhere, took a ladder that Dad propped up against a tree, and he held me while I stood a couple of steps up the ladder to watch over people's heads. He had found a position where all the bands seemed to strike up again, right in front of us.

Una, that is indeed a big TV, but as we were watching the Rose Bowl I couldn't help but think "This is how TV was always meant to be -- 70 inch screen, seven feet away!" LOL

Rae, the curtains are from Urban Outfitters, of all places! Turns out "leave no retail stone unturned" applies to interior design as well as fashion!
