WIW opera with Okalas - YouLookFab Forum

I wasn't going to post these pictures but then I thought, what the heck, I don't get many action outfit shots.

We went to see The Tales of Hoffmann and I have to say we loved it!

(Sorry for the odd angles, although DH understands that all outfit shots must include shoes he has not totally caught on.)

Jacket - Zara nabbed off the return rack - I had never seen it on display but thought it would be perfect for summer indoor events as I am always cold.
Harem skirt - thrift store, nwt by local Israeli designer. Sort of similar to the EF harem skirt that I so admire.
Bag - thrift store Israeli designer Daniella Lehavi (this was a lucky find)
Shoes - need no introduction (Okalas ala Angie and many others)

Funny extra story - we were in the elevator with three French ladies of what I am going to call the traditional school, carrying well cared for Dior bags and so on, and they were definitely discussing my shoes. Unfortunately I don't understand French so I can't tell you what they said!

I love Hoffman, too. Did on soprano sing all three roles, or did they use separate singers for each. In recent years, they've moved back to three most of the time, but in the 90's, the party trick was to find a single soprano who could sing Olympia, Antonia, and Guiletta. It would terrify me.

Fantastic! The black and white is elegant and modern. You are inspiring me to wear my harem pants to the opera next time. I saw Tales of Hoffman at the San Francisco Opera in June. Here are highlights, I wonder if some of the same cast members performed in Israel?

Waving back to all my shoe twins happily. Thank you all for your kind words. I am especially glad the jacket worked, I had mixed feelings about that.

Beth Ann the female roles were played by just one singer, Petrova Lyubov, and I was simply amazed not just by her range but her acting ability. Especially the first part when she plays Olympia the doll. The villians were all played by the same singer too (Carlo Cigni). DH told me that this is not done so often anymore. I just say wow.

Suz the jacket is cotton with acetate lining. It isn't for the heat but rather the a/c. Looks like summer though, right?

Oh Shevia, you stun me with your style and beauty! I love the sort-of (I say sort of because I'm not well versed on the style) avant-garde style, the proportions, and the sculptural quality of the jacket and harem skirt. The length of the sleeve and the skirt make everything so chic. And that collar! I die. The shoes are just the cherry on top.
