A couple of weeks ago I asked what to wear to the opening of our new theatre.  In the end I wore my black Gregory dress with yellow mules and handbag.  I had a look for a new clutch but failed to find what I wanted in the limited time frame I had.

I was pleased with how it came together and had a wonderful night.  The theatre is truly magnificent and the opening night was very special as my dear friend has been instrumental in getting it built.

Jon wore a suit and open neck shirt and this was a common look, as were a variety of cocktail dresses and smart casual options.  I was pleased I didn't choose the more formal option, but think any of the others could have worked.

It was a great celebration of the diversity of talent in our region from Maori Kapa Haka, to ballet, to choir music, to break dancing, to bagpipes and Indian dancing and anything else you can think of that could be in the performing arts!  Whether you were old or young, male, female or a drag queen, you were represented on stage, with all shapes and sizes and types of costumes.  It was a nice reminder of the importance of story telling and the role of the arts.  And we got the reveal of the historic art piece that has been carefully stored for 10 years whilst the new theatre was built.
