WIW: Only workhorse essentials

Today I am wearing a very simple outfit made up of workhorse essentials.
- Blue silky Witchery tee, drapes well, nice vee neck, great for layering
- White belt with silver stars, practical but a bit fun
- Mid Blue Superdry jeans - cuffed
- White leather sneakers (gold on the back)

The tee sneakers and belt all have something a bit interesting (the tee has a cut out keyhole at the back)

I will add a leather jacket or sweater on soon when I head out to Club Champs Tennis (my sons are playing each other in the semi finals).

Question: Should I crop these jeans? (Raw edge or hemmed)

I like the fit and wash but they are very long (I have worn them down one time with a heel but mostly I wear them with flats or mid heel boots). My hesitation is that I then do not have any simple straight leg full length jeans (I do have old boyfriends or skinnies), and that they are fairly low in the rise (too much so to be honest).

This is an outfit after my own heart. Blue and white, simple, casual, yet with a bit of elegance in the drape of the tee and a bit of fashion in the white touches. You look great!

I think if you tend to wear tonal outfits the fact that the jeans are lower in the rise is a non-issue. Also if you wear with tunics. But if you want to semi-tuck a high contrast top you might want to experiment with photos to see if you will like the effect before chopping. I am mostly only wearing crops these days (I just kept one full length pair for winter and a few BFs that I can wear cuffed or full length). So my tendency is to say "chop" -- but really, it depends. You are moving into autumn now so might want the length.

Thanks Suz. I am not much of a tucker (short waist, tummy and general casual/RATE look sometimes).

I could get away with pop socks and boots and these jeans in winter. You would scoff at we consider a cold day (we are not often below 0 Celcius/32 F here, more often sitting in the 10 C/50 F range for winter. But the height of summer is 30C/86 F. My bigger concern is rain/wet weather.

I am tending to cropping just at high shaft boot level, I know the height that works and being a long legged taller person I don't have to worry too much about leg shortening, but I do worry about waist and thigh flattery!!

It is a bit of a Suz look with blue and white:)

Great outfit - the white belt and sneakers make it! I would say chop.

A wonderful outfit. I also say chop. Whether you leave a raw edge or hem, do what feels best to you. I am surprised at how much I like a raw hem on jeans and am considering letting out the hem of my white denim skirt for a bit of length and to help a skirt look casual

Lovely and crisp. You need some high shaft white boots!
I don't know what to advise about chopping. I would be reluctant if that meant you have no full length jeans. I still like full length on cold days. But I am pretty sure Angie only has cropped jeans now and she copes with a climate much colder than ours.
If you do crop, I vote raw hem.

Emily - thanks. It was a bit unfortunate, the older beat the younger 9-0. The younger one was upset because he didn't play very well.

Brooklyn, I have one full length pair of skinnies and a full length pair of loosish straights, but they are on the way out and suit being cuffed better. I do hope to get some flares or bootcuts but the availability is awful, and I want to buy in store. A pair will eventually turn up that is long enough, a rinse I like, and not looking they are straight out of 1999:)

What a lovely outfit, fresh, casual but accurate. That's a "perfect" tee, right neckline, right length and I can see how well it drapes.. About the jeans I do not know what to suggest (I myself am always very confused when it comes to pants length), but I can say that I like the way you are wearing them, rolled up. They have a young, sporty vibe that way.

Much as I love crops, I do think keeping these full length might be wise, until another longer pair shows up. Esp if you are heading into fall/winter. I am chuckling a bit at the relativity of weather, at 10 degrees, my crops and bare legs will be coming out to play. I have struggled with crops and winter. And these look good rolled for when you want the shorter option.

Perfection. Sometimes these types of outfits are my favorite because I don't see an outfit; I see a strong, capable woman. I usually want to know those women better.

I like this, simple, crisp, current. I'm a fan of cropping in general but these look fine rolled to me. I think it depends on how you would get the most use out of them. Considering your temperatures, I would lean even more to cropped.

I like them rolled and if you don't mind rolling them, it does give you the versatility of wearing them long occasionally.

My older boys are only 2 years apart and are so competitive with each other. I can't imagine the drama if they actually played against each other in a sport.

I vote cop and raw hemmed! You look fantastic in this outfit, the jeans fit you beautifully. I would be tempted to duplicate these jeans if you can.

The tuck looks great, and the white belt just makes it! It is very flattering. The jeans look great rolled, so if you want versatility, keep the long, or maybe find another pair and crop.

I would crop the jeans to whatever works with your booties and not worry too much about the winter. Just wear some long socks.

I actually have kept my pants long. Not because I need the length but because I prefer the rolled look over the frayed hem/sewn hem for work.

I think you have a great casual look going here and with some good sunglasses and bag you are very stylish.

Thanks all for the input, I don't have much time today to reply individually but I have read them all. I think I will crop, but probably wait until I update my jeans this winter.

These ones are a really good fit in the legs but they are low waisted and (as always) to get a good fit in the calves they probably are a size too big in the waist, so can slip down. I am grateful for my muscular strong calves that take me to the gym and for long walks and runs but they make jeans shopping a right pain....

And yes we are very temperate here - please feel free to scoff at me when I say it is cold. However we get a lot of rain so winter can be hard from a soggy perspective.

You look fantastic, and I love your haircut! I don't have advice on the jeans. They look great here, so rolled seems to work when you need them shorter than full length.

Actually Sally, I would keep them full length until at least you get to update some others. It is already getting cooler with our rain don't you think? And if you want them shorter they look good rolled/cuffed - love the interesting bits of white in your outfit too.
You could try cuffing them on the inside? I've taken photos on my phone of mine I did that with- then I can wear them longer with heels, they are pinned for flats usually. This is the amusing link about "Ze French Cuff"

Well, that's the power of workhorse essentials proven once again. Fantastic polished outfit; I could wear this again and again. I love a cuffed jean myself, but chopped would look great too!

I always admire your wardrobe, Sally. You seem to always have the right outfit for any occasion, without having an absurd amount of clothes. I think your wardrobe is just well-chosen and structured, and I'm sure these essentials are a big part of that. You look great!

If you're hesitating about chopping your jeans, I'd wait until spring comes round again, especially as they are your only full-length pair. I like the look and the versatility of the cuff.
