WIW on the first spring day

Technically not the first day but it felt like spring today, +12C when we were leaving the house to walk to a gallery. I was so happy to shed coats and just to throw on a trench. My new oversized one needs to be altered, so I grab my old trench from Massimo Dutti. I love its cool olive color even if the style is too classic for my current preference.

Nothing that I wore is trendy and new, but I love it because it feels authentic. The black merino sweater dress is from COS and the black jeans from Massimo Dutti. A pair of old, knitted Cole Haan Oxford finished the “outfit “.

I’m showing my new silver & pearl earrings from Mejury that I mentioned in another thread. Rings are white gold.

I like that tiny V cutout on the neckline of the COS sweater dress - blink & you might miss it, but it adds subtle interest. The trench is fab too

I remember the first light jacket day in the spring, I always felt so light I could fly.
Those pearls are just the perfect accent to add a little luxe detail to simple forms.

Very nice! I appreciate Zaeobi's keen eye regarding the notch detail i on your sweater dress really does enhance the neckline.
I am interersted in your trench coats, do you reach for them often? I really like the idea of a trench, but the classic colorways do not seem to suit my cool toned fair skin.

Zaeobi, it is a small detail, the mock neck is made of two pieces that form v in front and at the back.

Indigoprint, our season is short for trench coats but I always have it in my wardrobe. I bought an oversized one to wear thicker sweaters and be able to wear it early in the spring . I find that now more colors are available in retail. I love COS trenches but they are too long on me.

Your dress over pants works perfectly, quietly understated, lovely pearl jewellery too.
It’s wonderful when spring weather pops up and we can finally shed the heavier outerwear. Love it to happen more consistently, the yo-yo weather at this time of year drives me crazy.

I really like your outfit. I have a black sweater dress but never wear it as I find it difficult to style. Your post has given me the idea of wearing it over trousers which I will try. I also love the colour of your trench coat.

I finally brought my alterations to my tailor. Should be done in a week or so. So looking forward for warm weather to play with my new oversized trench. And new pearl earrings should be delivered soon!
