WIW: On one of those days ...

......when you dress up to go somewhere and that trip never happens?!

I was trying to copy Angie's Lilac and Grey ensemble. The only purple I have is probably these tights that I bought recently (Thank you Ornella for the inspiration!). I changed my picture taking spot to a new corner of my house since it has better natural lighting than the rest. Unfortunately my camera wasn't behaving and for some reason on auto mode it thought blue tights look better with my outfit (pic 2). In manual mode, I was looking yellow (pic 3)! After fidgeting for about half hour with the modes and flash setting and umpteen frustrating fail pics, I googled and realized my white balance setting was off. Finally I managed to capture near perfect colors (pic 1). After all this hard work .... coupled with being a bit under weather, honestly I didn't want to step out anywhere! This outfit is saved for future use ........ and I am chilling out in my PJs now! I am now determined to tame my camera!

Does the outfit formula work? I am wearing a black high waisted pencil skirt, with a tucked in stone gray tunic top and my favorite cut out boots! Any suggestions on improvement is always welcome. Thanks for looking!

PS Sorry for the wrinkly outfit! I have no excuses!

ETA - Pic 4 after Lyn's observation. This is with a darker grey top. Does this work at all? (You see I HAVE to do Angie's ensemble ... LOL!)

Hi Neel! Great ideea with the purple tights, I have some, too-but never worn them as didn't have anything to bookend or tonaly match with. You didn't either, so-to be honest am a bit controversial on this one-will see if that's still OK to others(and will probably be in the minority with this concern-but pls. forgive me, I just can't help:-(). If not bookended, I still feel like the top part should be a bit more balanced in the color intensity with the tights or so...Otherwise there are some great and interesting pieces here as I know you have a great wardrobe and a fab style! Your travel capsule from the other thread is also more than fab-delighted me all:-)!

Thanks Lyn67! I searched hi and low for something to bookend with ... But no I couldn't find anything! Not even a bracelet, necklace, earring, belt or scarf (ornella style). That's my excuse for an incomplete outfit :D. I even searched for purple nailpaint and lipstick ... Lol!

So how else do I wear these tights? Hmmm .... Do you think an all gray or all black outfit would have worked?

Hmm...all black, or all charchoal will do the job better to my eyes. Then, this specific skirt with a black/navy top either. Or be really bold and do some more color blocking with say a fluid mustard sweater to your hips, tuntucked. Or try the same outfit here with some knee length boots, to reduce the amount of the intense color, and put on a darker toper.(jacket/cardi). BUT also wait to see what others say!:-)

Hi, Neel--Your second outfit is awesome with the purple tights. I have burgundy tights, and you're inspiring me to try them with a skirt, even though the temp. here is about 0 degrees. That being said, I love your starry shirt and also must tell you, I think for the third time now, how fab your boots are.

I like both outfits, but i like kinda quirky looks. The second version with the sweater seems more seasonally balanced. The bare arm and tights ... Well if it was warm enough for long bare arms id skip the hose (i despise hose...) so that is perhaps something to read with a grain of salt. Love the star shirt. Its super fun!

I think both versions are really fun! If the tights were a bit less opaque #1 would work better, I think.

Sorry you had to struggle to get these pictures but awed that you can do natural light at all -- here, in winter, that is just impossible.

I like 1 with bare legs. The longsleeved sweater looks better with the tights to my eyes. Great looks!

I love the pencil skirt with the purple tights and booties! I agree with lyn67 , all charcoal will really make the purple pop.

I like both versions, but #4 seems more seasonally appropriate. I sometimes wear my colored tights like this - as a pop of color with neutrals.
