It feels like we went from summer to winter overnight... it was 70+ degrees Fahrenheit yesterday and 30s/40s and rainy today. I love rainy days (... but I wouldn't mind if it were a little warmer!), and I kinda felt like a million bucks in today's outfit. This dress is a new favorite for sure. Now I just need to figure out how to feel this sharp every day...

(Apologies for the terrible lighting in the pictures; it's dark and rainy and there's no natural light to be had.)

(And I carried a red umbrella that matched my topper almost perfectly.)

Items:
Express Premium Wool Trench Coat (find below) - new purchase and I love it. It feels like especially good quality for Express (with price tag to match, but I got it 30% off). I used to have and loved a black trench coat in college, but it was terribly ill-fitting, since I knew nothing about fit and tended to wear baggy shapeless things in those days. So I've been on the lookout for a dignified black trench that's appropriate for dressier work days, and I think this fits the bill.

Helmut Lang gray wool asymmetric zipper dress - bought on consignment from therealreal.com. It's too bad that the topper covers up most of the cool wraparound zipper detail, but that's okay... I still love the hem and the draped neckline with a topper. I've worn pretty much this exact outfit to work twice in the last two weeks and gotten compliments each time, so it's on my list of fast fallback options.

Express Knit Moto Jacket (find below, in black) - I was a little on the fence about this jacket when I got it... the silver bits sometimes feel a little overwhelming, but I've decided that I love it. I'm not sure if cranberry/burgundy/red is my best color as a redhead, but I don't care; I really like wearing it.

ancient Clarks Indigo shooties - I've had these forever and worn them into the ground; the heels have been repaired once already, and I put inserts in the front to add some padding since I've long since worn down any padding it originally had. It might be time to replace them soon; the heels are feeling a little high these days, especially if I have to walk a lot.
