WIW Oldies outfit 3, thrifted bag and jackets

Today, I tried to put together an outfit with a bag I bought in a charity shop yesterday and to include some oldies. These are only test outfits for next week, therefore no makeup and my hair looks really bad.

In No 1 I am wearing wide leg patterned trousers, cream shirt, bronze scarf and a bronze metallic large bag with attached little “money” scarf, blue shoes. The oldies are an olive silk/cotton short jacket by Hugo Boss, bought about 10 years ago and huge vintage green Dior sunglasses which my mother bought in the end of 70ies or early 80ies.

No 2 is the same combo, but with a navy cotton Escada jacket, about ten years old.

I love the sunglasses, but I find the jackets difficult to wear. Again, as with so many of my oldies, really great quality, but I find the shape difficult.

What do you guys think about the outfits, the jackets and my new thrifted find? Keep any of the jackets or let go? Grateful for honest feedback, comments, ideas or whatever comes to mind.

I vote keep both jackets, Katerina, they are gorgeous, just as all your pieces (those pants are so fun). I like both your outfits a lot.

I like both the jackets and think that you should keep both of them however I think that the olive jacket works better with this outfit than the navy one.The Navy one looks aliitle too heavy for this particular rendition but I think the outfit is fab with the olive jacket ,it really works.

My problem, again, is with the length of the olive one - short.... I used to like short jackets and I guess jackets were shorter ten years ago. Now, not so much. I try different layers to visually extend the lenght. The blue one is not easy to style because it is a slight A-line and short.

I think the jackets are good but maybe not buttoned? Then the length doesn't matter quite so much. I prefer the scarf in picture 2 - it allows the pants bag and glasses to shine.

Katerina- I am sorry but I just do not see any difficulty with the look of either jacket. You wear both beautifully- do you think you are not entirely happy because you think they are shorter than your more recent ones? You mentioned that in a previous oldies post, so I wonder if you just perceive they are too short (because they really aren't). They are great garments and both keepers.
I think the scarf plays perfectly with the purse and is most certainly a keeper look.

I too think you should consider keeping the jackets. Maybe you should try them with some other items. The olive one is great with this outfit, but I can understand just not feeling certain items that others like.

Great new (to you) bag. I prefer the olive jacket here because it goes with the tones of the outfit better. Although I do love the buttons on the navy jacket. Sunglasses are super!

Question:
What do you think about the creme shirt hanging out from the olive jacket? Personally I like to have the same length so it does not hang out, but if the jackets are too short, it doesn’t work. And I don’t like to have it tucked in ... This is why I prefer a little longer toppers now.

Katerina- Regarding your question about your creme shirt hanging longer under your jacket.
Personally, I too prefer to have things the same length but I like the look of short jackets On me and have a small collection.
I had this exact conversation with my much more stylish adult daughter.
I was told- “Get over it mom!” LOL
I see Some YLF Friends with the look and in magazines.So I have been trying to “get over it”- it is not coming easy for me.
But you are a magician of sorts- you have the flair for pulling off all kinds of smashing looks. And this is just another example of you pulling a great “rabbit out of the hat” - you have that magic touch.
If, in your head you still feel so so about long under short..... I will have my daughter call you....... but she is gonna tell ya “to get over it”—— you have my permission to “ roll your eyes “ at her.

Your WIWs make me swoon with pleasure. It seems to be a simple formula, and yet, every single outfit is in a class all by itself. This outfit is no exception. Everything coordinates harmoniously.

I prefer number 1 to number 2 after seeing them side-by-side.

Those pants are so amazing and look great with the jackets. I love how you have styled these outfits and can see that these jackets both work well - the issue is, do you have other black jackets that you prefer wearing? If yes, then maybe wear the ones that you love and pass on these, but how they look here is magic.

The new thrifted find is wonderful and so perfect with your pants...you have a wonderful eye.

Amazing style. Agree with Angie that "you are ready for Vogue Italia." The sunglasses actually remind of a pair I wore in Venice, Italy, in 1970. You look fab in all these items. Keep them all. You certainly know how to style them.

By the way, it would be fun (and likely be appreciated by more than me) if you would write a post about how you tie your scarves.
