WiW: okay but could have been better

What I wore:

- really old BR burgundy cap sleeve knit cowl neck top
- Trina Turk skirt
- AT white pleather scuba jacket
- microfishnets
- black suede tall boots

What I had planned to wear:
Same outfit but with..
- new Halogen cowl neck cashmere sweater, which is a brighter shade (identical to my new pashmina, shown in yesterday's WiW). It was warmer out today so I wound up doing a last-minute top swap.
- black suede Me-Too wedge booties. Which definitely looked a LOT more trendy with this skirt, but those booties are 3 inches tall and the day involved too much walking around. So I swapped last minute into the tall boots, which are only 1-1/2 inches.

In retrospect, what would have even been better:
- the new flat Frye booties! It didn't even occur to me to try these with a skirt. Next time!. I think it would have given the outfit more edge.
- May have also worked with denim jacket, or black moto, instead of white.

Hair comments:
- Flat ironed the heck out of it. I was going to lay off my flat iron for awhile to give my hair a rest, but within an hour after styling it, it was doing some funky weird curly thing that just was not working. So I attacked it with the flat iron!

Well, for what you weren't going to wear, it's pretty darn great! I'm looking forward to seeing the skirt with those booties you spoke of, you have piqued my interest. Very chic and artistic.

I think this looks perfect. I love the white jacket and the black boots. I like the contrast. I'd love to see it with the Fryes too. I haven't seen those yet.

I love the white jacket with this outfit. I think it is a tad bit unexpected (because everyone is afraid of white) but not way out there.

This is so chic and really good looking, and for another vibe you can swap the boots and jacket like you said. Both works, I'm sure. Your haircut is amazing! I think you did the right thing there.

I am a toe in the water kind of girl when it comes to edge, but I know it when I see it. I love the skirt with the jacket (edge factor). I really like the jacket. It works on 2 levels the design is edgy, the color is refined. The print on your skirt looks divine and the burgundy top is so unexpected (adds depth!)

I see what you mean about the boots. I can't see the heel in the pictures but, the pointed to reads refined to me. Something a bit chunkier would play off the jacket nicely too.

Very nice outfit,I love all the dramatic contrasts, your boots, the black and white skirt with the white moto(+ burgundy top), all is fab to me!!! Your hair, too:-)) (Inever ever use a straightener on mine!!! It is so thin, that it just don't work on it-as it makes it look more thin and fIat to my eye, so just blow my hair with a babyliss round, ceramic coated and ionizing brush).

OMG--the jacket, the jacket! *swoon* Is this new? I love it, and your whole outfit. Yes the other boots may have been trendier, but this is pure modern classic chic. I didn't get a chance to comment on your haircut yet, but I love that too. You look fab!

Day Vies - we think alike that was exactly my thought process about the boots.

Claire - it's not a new jacket. It's from AT, the season when they had guest designers, so I've had it for a few years now. It's pleather, but that's actually a plus because it's super easy to keep it clean.

That skirt continues to be killer, and the jacket is perfect.

It would be fun to try with more rugged boots, but then you might swap the white jacket for something in denim, since it might be too jarring? I don't know, you'd have to try!

Better than okay, I say! I think you look terrific. Great jacket. This is one of those outfits with which I bet you could find lots of variations that work well but have varying levels of edge or classic style, depending on your mood.
