WIW: now and then - YouLookFab Forum

I love everyone's now and then posts, so here's a simple one from me, featuring the same jeans (bootcuts, which I never stopped wearing), and teal top.

1st pic: Now (today): Look Ma, no jewelry! I've accessorized with only this groovy hair scarf. Never fear, I'm not giving up my beloved jewelry, but most of it is yet to be unpacked, and I thought it'd be fun to try an outfit without a statement necklace and/or earrings. Of course I'm still wearing my "background" jewelery, which is wedding band, watch, cuff, and small earrings in my accessory piercings.

2nd pic: Then: last year, Spring 2013: I've got on a scarf, big gypsy like earrings, and my fuchsia tweed jacket. I have to say, I quite like this, and hope I remember it for when it's next cold enough to wear tweed again. It's a much better fit for my east meets wild wild west goal than today's version.

Thanks for looking, comments and suggestions always welcome. Oh and thank you also for your support yesterday - it was quite a stressfull 2 days, b/c my car decided to act up on the way home and is now in the shop, ggrrrr!!!

Really love the fuchsia jacket with the teal shirt and patterned scarf. Those colors go beautifully together and are very flattering on you!

They are both very different looks even though they share the same basics. It's remarkable, isn't it, how much moving the scarf and removing the jacket can change the feel of an outfit? It is harder to see the jewelry in these photos but your looser hair makes a strong impression. You look more relaxed this year. Is that the way you feel? Despite the recent stress. Both outfits look great on you!

Love the colors in your wardrobe! They're rich and vibrant, but still "grown-up" and very flattering.

In my own dressing, I'm trying to stick to one statement item and one close-up detail item. For example, I'm wearing a graphic cardi now. I've kept the rest of my outfit low contrast, but I'm wearing a short Jerusalem cross necklace that has sentimental meaning and is a feature of interest only to people who are, literally, close to me. I kept my earrings simple, but I wore them, since I have a "thing" about holes with nothing filling them.

I think your "old" look still works because the colors are well balanced and the proportions are good. It's what I call an "esemble" outfit, when lots of elements harmonize together without any one taking over.

Sorry to hear about the car trouble! I have one on its last legs, so I know the feeling!

Ooh, I like last year's colours. Interesting to see the difference. Don't know if it's luck of the draw or what - but this year seems a little more streamlined, even in terms of colour (today's outfit is all in the same colour family).

Oh, I like this very much! I like today better than last year, simply because of the looser hair, which I think is lovely, and the pretty lime in your scarf, which I think makes the sweater pop. This really is how I dress much of time, vneck sweater, bootcut jeans (and most of the time either Merrell clogs or cute(r) flats) and I'm trying to zip up my look. I've got a teal vneck sweater that I wore the other night to a lecture with silver "pearls" and a navy and teal polka dot scarf from Banana Republic. Wearing the silver necklace made it pop a bit for me. Do you ever wear bigger jewelry?

I'm glad you made it home safely but I hope the repair doesn't cost too much money!

I enjoy both looks & they both look like you. In a contest, though, I'm always going to pick the tweed. lol
