WIW: Not to play football

I say "not to play football" because I am looking like a middle linebacker here. Not sure why this look makes me seem so broad. I got this top at NAS and this is the first time I've worn it. When it first arrived, I tried it on and didn't think it looked bad. Not sure what's not working here.

Any thoughts?

I don't think it's bad, but the width under the arm is what's creating the wide impression. I think it might be even better with some judicious tucking and the sleeves pulled up.

I like the top and do see linebacker at all! I would try to pull up/scrunch the sleeves.

Ummila - are you thinking I should tuck the bottom layer? I do agree that it's the width under the arm. Maybe I should have gone down a size.

Shevia - I will try the scrunch, although the sleeves are sheer, so they didn't seem to want to hold a scrunch!

I'm not doing well this week on my outfits, yall! But I'm learning a little something every day.

You look beautiful! I love this outfit and don't see linebacker at all. Is this the first time in awhile that you have worn long sleeves so that your eye may need to adjust?

Hmmm. I hadn't bought of that Joy. How interesting. Great question that I will have to think about.

It might also b that the widest part of me is where the seams of the sleeves are which are also where my bustling is.

I also just realized that I rolled one leg of the jeans to see which way you all thought I should go. But I was so disappointed over the look when I saw the photo that I forgot to ask!

It's cute! I really like it - and can also understand your concerns about looking too-wide shouldered - because that is my concern as well in tops like this! I'm wondering if you were to semi-tuck the longest layer if that would rein it in a bit by adding some structure? Also, the printed pants adds a sense of bulk. Perhaps if you were to wear a solid colored pant you would feel better? Also - I know that you said the sleeves might not stay scrunched - but I'd try that as well, just to see if it works!
