WIW (Now with picture!): Leith pants

So I picked these up yesterday from Nordstrom. They are probably a little too long but I love them otherwise! I unzipped the zipper a little so they go over the boot top and don't look as bunched at the hem. And they are thin, but I can wear them with an underlayer as I do with many of my work pants. So i've got them on with my DV booties and citron sweater. Very comfy. I hope they look okay. The material is nice and silky - seems great for travel and summer too. Also, I spilled Thai curry on my leg and the material shows no stain at all.

Hopefully when I post a pic they will look as good as they feel...

Angie, HA! I look horrible in white - like a ZOMBIE.. It is really shocking, since you'd think not. I was actually going to do a post begging you and the forum to help me overcome this since I feel iike ti's a huge limitation. I've almost got a phobia of it now, plus I've only recently seen RATE or UWP looks in white that I like. Will post separately and include some pics - maybe I need to work on shades of white?

Una, is your all whites ban for tops only? Or do you exclude bottoms too? I.e., throwing baby out with bathwater.

I think there is a shade of white that will work for you Una! I'm guessing the contrast with your natural coloring is going to look awesome, once you find the right shade.

I'm very keen to help you with your White Clothing Phobia (WCP), Una. I have clients and friends with your exact colouring (and heritage for that matter) and white is one of their best colours.

As far as I can tell, you can probably wear most shades of white. White can be very pretty, which might be putting you off. But at the same time, white can be harsh, sterile, cool, modern, crisp, warm, masculine, and no-nonsense. It's a magical shade.

Do you own anything white?

If its any consolation, I am so confused as to what kind of white tones actually look good on me. Even though I would think cooler ones would be best, I'm not so sure. Maybe we can all have a "how to wear your best white" confab one of these days!

I don't wear white at all. I have one Helmut Lang thrifted cardigan that is a silvery white, but other than that, I have been unable to work it in. Looks like I'm going to be a YLF group project!

Heh, I didn't want to spring more baggy trousers on DH after all the trench coats. It's all fine, though, because although the trousers are FAB in both sizes, they are much too similar to my existing trousers. Hopefully someday I'll spot something exactly like them in a heavier material.

Una, I have always found it interesting that you don't like white since I wear both white and cream. Angie probably has it with the pretty factor. Hm, must go look for white looks for you.

Una, I'm always amazed at how well you wear dramatic looks with our small size. The silky fabric probably keeps these pants from overwhelming. You look great!
ETA: I can't wait to see you in shades of white. Light Silvery grey may be your white.

I actually think it's an advantage of broad shoulders - it makes up a little for lack of stature. Maybe I should appreciate them more than I do! You could totally wear these - they are very easy compared to more structured slouchy looks.

Everyone, including me, is always contrasting how petite I really am with how indelicate and RATE my personality is - there's a bias that all us small-scaled chicks are sweet and delicate!

Oh, they have Una written all over them. I received my pair, definitely not the right pants for me, they are too thin. I am a static magnet, they clang to every inch of my being.

I will admire them from afar !

Really, Zap? I wish I had your legs because these are too long - I've just decided not to care. And they are not staticky despite how dry it is here. Wonder why? I am wearing leggings underneath, and there's not even any cling. Weird!

BTW, I find it hilarious that you hold Rae and me to such high standards, since you are always perfect yourself!

Sigh....I love these pants!! I want them. I could even have HAD them...had there been any left in my size. There was a YLF facilitator on the job. But alas.....

By the way, I am not agreeing with the size chart at all. I think that for these guys to look really slouchy, as per YLF preferences, you need to go a size up.
