Taking advantage of no-blue-jeans week to try two purchases that have been hanging in my closet with tags on.
First one: Spanx leggings with the sort of faux leather finish. I’m not a leggings person, really, but bought these — yes — a year and a half ago in a moment of madness when I thought maybe I could get some use out of leggings if they were cool ones like these. But every time I thought of wearing them, something else appealed to me more.
Enter the dress. I ordered it from Anthro while ordering dresses to try for my niece’s wedding, just because the silhouette and length looked potentially flattering for me and I love a simple black and white pattern. I think it’s at least JFE if not a little better, but the wrap is a little flimsy and doesn’t close as much as I’d like it to (at least not at my current weight — it may be better after I lose this extra fluff). So it seems this dress would require either a slip, which I do have, or to be worn over pants or leggings. It actually looks pretty good over flares, but I thought I’d try the leggings thing today.
I also tried a turtleneck underneath to winterize it. I think it works. And of course I had to casualize it and add some edge with stompy boots.
What do you think?
