Just to prove I can do it....(the no black thing)

Thoughts on pairing floral with camo? I had a black t-shirt, but wanted a lighter look. Plus it going to 27C this afternoon, so I have to keep things pretty light.

Camo joggers - new from Winners -- first outing
sleeveless floral shell -- a couple of years old
Ecco Soft 7 sneakers in Shale metallic -- new
Tahari utility jacket - new -- first outing

This isn't really my preferred combo for these pants, but really wanted to give them a whirl. Weather permitting I think I'll pair them with a different top for an outdoor work-related social gathering later next week.

Anyway, thanks for looking! Comments and suggestions always welcome.

I think this is brilliant pattern mixing! To some extent the camo bottoms act like a false solid, IYKWIM. Love the floral shell with yellow background.

FWIW, I wore the hoodie (Finds below) with olive chinos, when I still had olive chinos

Thanks, Carla and Mirjana! I think I will ultimately prefer a weightier sweater to balance the softness of the pants, but I was reasonably pleased with how this turned out on this lovely warm day.

Love this! An outfit after my own heart. I have those Ecco sneakers in a similar color, Forest Metallic, and they have been absolute workhorses for me!

Thanks, everyone, for the kind comments! It was fun to give these pants a first outing and learn what I might want to do differently another time!

Lisa, Kate, Lozz -- These are my first try with the Ecco Soft 7s. I had success with Ecco Chase many years ago, but the Soft 7s didn't seem right for my foot. On a whim I tried these on the other day and decided they might work after all. So far, so good!

It definitely works. Is there olive in the floral? I have never successfully paired my camos (my favourite Fall pants) with a floral. But I don't have a floral top with a color that ties in with a color in the camo. I only have two floral tops. It seems that is the key. I love my camos with solids and stripes. Camo is almost a neutral to me.

I'd print this pic and place it in the wardrobe as a reminder that you look fab in an outfit without any black pieces

Thanks, Minaminu - a more balanced approach will be in order as I rebuild my wardrobe, for sure!

Star, Rachy - thanks for the kind comments. The floral includes a soft green, blush, and brown. I will be a bit sorry if I can't get away with it next summer as I really love the colours and pattern. It even has a BIT of black in the pattern that has let me wear it with my fave black culottes.

I think it works too! You may want to work on building a secondary neutral capsule, if you want to wear black less often. I've been actively focusing on that in the last couple years, cause I don't like black with my cooler colors (on me).

Stagiaire Fash, Brooklyn, yes, I guess camo is essentially a neutral (plants - how did I miss that connection) that makes perfect sense with floral.

Suntiger, agreed. I need another neutral capsule. I have a bit of olive now, so that helps, but I would like to aim for some camels, tans and beiges. And a bit more colour and pattern.
