WIW new thrifted denim coat - YouLookFab Forum

Dear Fabbers,
Here I am again.... I am really all over the place now, sorry....
Yesterday, I went to my favourite charity shop and found a nice retro denim coat. I have not had a blue denim jacket or coat for years. But this one I like - the lenght, the retro shape and colour and the very thick 100% cotton fabric, and also, it cost about 9 Euro - so why not to try.
After a proper wash and steaming, I played with different combinations.

In the pictures, I wear it over a column of navy blue with different scarves and shoes and also without a scarf. And I went bananas with brooches.

No 1 is the first styling attempt, my “natural” way. Dark, patterned scarf, loads of brooches, beige metallic sneakers.

No 2 is the opposite, no scarf. Despite the brooches, I feel a bit strange without a scarf.

No 3 the same combo with a solid brown scarf - a bit calmer combo I think.

So what do you guys think? Do you like the coat? Is the look current enough? Is the styling ok? Shall I remove the brooches or some of them? I am grateful for honest feedback, comments, ideas or whatever comes to mind.

Coat is definitely a keeper- color, length style is great. Total score!
The nice part of that coat is that it looks great with or without scarves... but you know which way I lean with that

The coat is a great piece for casual wear. I like the outfits with the scarves best. #4 is elegant with matching brooches, scarf and shoes. Love the colour combo. Not sure about ALL the brooches ...

It must be your confidence and your sure-footed way with accessories, Katerina, but everything looks current on you! The first styling of the coat looks very Katerina; the second, though I like it, does not; and the third, with the warmth of all those topaz stones, suede shoes, and camel scarf against the cool blue denim, looks Katerina 2.0. I love it, and if you have any pants in that light warm brown tone, I would even add them to the mix in place of the navy.

The coat is a find. I like the opposite one, without the scarf best. I also like it with the brown scarf. I do like the shoe color in the first one with it - but the scarf seems a bit too formal somehow. Are the shoes Stephane Kelian? They remind me of his great platform loafers.

I vote for #1. To me, the only way the jacket wouldn't work is if you couldn't smoothly incorporate it into your own style. But you have, and it looks great!

Interesting to see these comparisons. The scarf outfits are very “you” but there is something nice about the outfit sans scarf, too— somehow it makes you look gentler, more vulnerable, maybe even more romantic. How intriguing!

I like it every way - but #1 is my favourite. I find multiple brooches looks very fun and intentional. I really like the colour of your denim coat and think it would look great with a column of white or blush to lighten the look. This is a great find and looks very current especially how you have styled it.

The jacket is a great find, definitely a keeper.

Of the outfit combos, the last one is my favourite. I like the visual balance... I see the amber brooches, scarf, shoes and the rims of your glasses all complementing each other - and then your dark hair pairs with your dark trousers - and then the jacket breaks it up and adds a unique element.

I am jealous of your coat! I want one. My favorite styling is the third one, with the camel scarf. You are right, I think, in your hunch: this coat requires simple lines as well as casual pieces.
I also quite like the second "bare" styling, with the necklace. It looks very carefree.
