WIW: New pearlized jeans - YouLookFab Forum

I found these NYDJs at the Rack and liked the color and sized up fit. Here are a couple ways I've tried wearing them, but I could use some styling suggestions. They are a rather heavy coated denim so I hope they can be worn into the fall and winter as a "cream" bottom.
1. With Eileen Fisher grey silk/cotton blend tank.
2. I added an H&M open weave pullover. In this photo the jeans are full length. Are they too short?
3. Same with jeans rolled. Are they rolled to the right length? Is the sweater too short for pants?
4. With Ellie Tahari silk top. Here it is tied in front.
5. Same with top tied in back.
I want to know what you think is working and what is not and suggestions for improvement and other styling. Also, any ideas for using these jeans in cooler weather? They are extremely comfortable. Do they fit ok? Too big?

Joy, I love all your tops here. Love, love the Tahari top--that is just gorgeous on you! I'm not crazy about the jeans for some reason. In these photos, they look more like pants to me, when I'm wanting them to look more like jeans. But let's say they are more like casual pants. . . . Then I wouldn't necessarily wear them rolled. Or if they are jeans, then I think I would prefer them to be slimmer in the leg. The boyfriend-like bigger leg and rolled look doesn't quite work for me with the crisp, dressier vibe of the fabric. And they seem just a tad short for a straight-leg jean. This is just my initial take, and it will be good to hear other opinions. The photos may not be doing them justice, either.

ETA: I hope I haven't come off too harsh here, because you really do look good in these outfits, and I think the fit of the jeans looks great. Yes, definitely they'll work into fall and winter. As to suggestions, I actually do like the jeans rolled better than full-length with lower-vamped shoes, as I'm thinking the denim is probably more obviously casual IRL. You look fab in the rolled-jean look, especially with the way you rock the semi-tuck. I wonder about wearing the jeans full-length with heeled booties in fall and winter; this length often works very well with ankle boots.

I agree that they just need another inch or so to achieve some scrunch when unrolled.
The sweater in #3 gives a very casual vibe- the length is not quite enough to semi-tuck, perhaps?
Nit-picking here 'cause you always look Fab and this is just fine-tuning I guess

Wow, winter white meets the metallic trend and they have a ladylike baby! Do you have any tops or toppers that feature florals or lace? I sort of wondered about a cheeky riff on the typical chiffon and pearls look...

I do agree with Firecracker that rolling these up may not be the best plan.

I love the idea of these jeans, but I think they are too short, and I don't think they work rolled.

The camera picks up more shine than they have in real life, but, Firecracker, I think you put your finger on it, that they look more like trousers than jeans.
I have some booties with a bit of a heel that I will try with them.
Lyn, lack of scrunch! That is what is missing at full length, isn't it? I bought the sweater last spring to wear over sleeveless summer dresses instead of a cardi, but the short length is iffy here. The fabric is a bit too stiff for a good faux tuck, which is what I was attempting.
ManidipaM, I love your styling thoughts. I have a lace bomber jacket that may work well and a floral cardigan.
Ceit, you are right. Thank you for your honesty. Deep down I suspected these were too short and may become shorts. They are big in the waist so I will try letting them ride lower on the hips to see if there is a bit more length for the time being.

I love the color of those jeans Joy and they work brilliantly with your wardrobe. The tops you are showing us here are all absolutely beautiful on you

But I think the jeans are a bit too short. Is there any hem allowance to let them down as I do like the fit on you? I was wondering how they would work with the Petty python booties for fall and that the tonal effect with those booties might elongate the leg a bit.

Joy, at first I was so wowed by how absolutely gorgeous you look in these outfits that I could not even see straight! Seriously -- you were made for these silvers, whites, and gorgeous jewel tones. And I love the idea of these jeans. But I agree with the others that they are a bit short. Hmm. How do they work with your Petty's? Too short for those, too, probably? If they are not expensive, I want you to keep them and alter into clams for summer wear.

My crash helmet has sustained a serious dent from #4 and #5! What a seriously beautiful combination! I have a crush on that outfit now. Gorgeous color combo, neat juxt of structured bottoms with flowy top, red shoes are like the cherry on top, er, bottom.

Shannon, there is no seam allowance. I suspect they were priced so low because they had already been shortened for someone. I like your idea of trying them with the python booties now put away until fall. If that fails, maybe I can make them into long city shorts, narrowing the leg if needed.

Suz, altering them into clams may be the best solution. They were very inexpensive and I still have most of my $$ toward alternations at Nordstroms for this year.

Stunning jeans. I really like the pearlized look. I don't mind the length, but I think I am seeing so much of that length around that I am simply getting used to it. I agree 100% with Angie about the ankle boots and have to say that #4/5 is gorgeous. Love the shock of colour witht he neutral pants.
