WIW: New Leather Jacket - YouLookFab Forum

So thanks to all your timely and expert advice on Friday night, I ended up purchasing this buttery soft, sherbet coloured leather jacket on massive sale, and then doing an outfit session at home as many of you suggested to see if it works into my life.

The outfit try-on session was critical, as it revealed a few things:
- the jacket is the exact colour of many of my wardrobe items (I gravitate towards this creamy blush for some reason)
- the sleeves are snug, but I think any bigger, and the jacket would look too tenty on me
- It is luxe, sophisticated, and as Angie pointed out, pretty, which is where I'm gravitating these days

All this together means it is the perfect in-office topper for silk tanks and short sleeve blouses in the spring/summer, but not good for much more than that. I think that is good enough since I am always needing a topper since I run cold and I have a number of tops it would go with, plus it would allow me to buy more sleeveless tops since I have a warm sophisticated jacket to layer on top. But I am not sure yet, so I actually didn't wear the jacket out of the house. Would love your thoughts, both on the look of it on me and the usage potential. I'm trying to be better about things 'earning' a place in my wardrobe vs. my usual style of indiscriminate impulse buying.

Oh my goodness. Super gorgeous on you! I love the softness of the top with these faded jeans, and then your great bold lip color. That jacket is amazing matched with a like color underneath, and the tone of the leather is just amazing with your skin. I am SO GLAD you bought it. One of my favorite items I have seen this year on YLF!!!!!

This is so pretty on you! Is the back of it two layers? It's hard to tell if the top or the jacket is the piece with two layers.

I was just admiring a blush leather peplum jacket this weekend, but did not purchase it since it cost $1000. What a lucky find here for you!

@Viva - thank you *so* much! That means so much since I admire your style so much. And your comment on my original post, about pairing it with ripped jeans, sealed the deal for me - I couldn't do that for work, but I love the idea of pairing it with ripped faded jeans and a silk tee for a night out. Seems to fit my new idea of glam casual/

@Ummlila - the back of it is two layers! That's what i liked so much, and the leather is so soft. This one too was $1,000, marked down to $230. You should keep an eye on the one you liked - blush tends to go on sale in late summer in anticipation of fall (though I wear it year round!)

Gorgeous. I love that jacket and haven't seen anything quite like it. Fun to see the silhouette coupled with the creamy blush color. It's very nice on you. If you need to accommodate cooler weather and want to extend its use, there are very thin simple tops designed to be insulating (like Uniqlo's HeatTech) that might work. I tend to wear them as an under layer, but know others enjoy them on their own or with a topper. I see why this is a tempting jacket to keep!

Thanks Angie! I'll have to take a pic of it closed to show you the back - I don't want to keep anything that doesn't fit correctly when it's closed (though, come to think of it, I rarely zip up my leather jackets...)

It is so pretty on you -- love it! No wonder you gravitate to this tone; it's so beautiful on you, a lovely contrast to hair and skin.

I almost never zip my leather jackets. They do close on me, but I zip only in dire situations where the weather changes suddenly and I'm caught without a topcoat.

That is one gorgeous jacket at a great price! My practical side wants to ask if you have a good leather cleaner place near you, and if you would be okay with having to clean it fairly often. Or can it be spot cleaned? And if you will ban all ballpoint pens within a block's radius?

@DonnaF - such a great point to raise. I noticed yesterday that already the cuffs were getting grimy because the leather is so supple and delicate. hmm. I'll have to see if I can clean it with my leather lotion here. And yes - with 2 littles I have given this a lot of thought! As with all my white/cream clothes, I wear a ratty cardigan until I am ready to run out the door, and once I am safely in the car, I take it off

Front and back view is gorgeous! You wear this color well, no wonder why you say you have a lot of it in your wardrobe. I do really like the bright lipstick too- keeps it lively.
