WIW: New items, remixing and orphan rehab and the power of a good pic.

Hi to all

Here are some WIW taken over the last fortnight. DH is away overseas right now, it is mid winter which is not cold, but it has been very wet. Life has mostly been about working, exercising and snuggling up at home - and watching lots of soccer and rugby and tennis, some in the rain, some on the TV and some outside in the sun.

Here are some things I have worn.

1) In a previous thread there were suggestions to wear my black sequin cardigan casually - so here we go. Attempt one - I have a few other ideas up my sleeve for when the weather gets a little more condusive. I think this is a fair but not great look.

2) In the early evening I went for a slow ploddy run then came home and could not be bothered cooking. I picked up some burgers for the boys and a healthier option for me. I wore my new Witchery Ponte jacket - recommended by Brooklyn. It is relatively fitting, while I usually take this size at Witchery, it does feel a little snug. But the size up was sold out and I think two sizes bigger would be too big. I have worn it previously with my loose Lululemon pants which I think is better than the skinny jeans. It is a well constructed jacket and it looks best done up, which suits me. Perfect for working from home or the rugby sideline. I will wear it a lot but probably not with these jeans BUT why I am showing it the power of good posture in a photo. I look a lot different when I stand up straight huh!!

3) Yesterday's day look. New white sneakers with a gold trim at the back from Witchery. Very comfy although quite stiff to put on and off. Everything else has been seen before.

4) Today, another working from home day. A bit of an experimental look. I liked the fresh colour. I had to throw on the long cardigan for warmth. I am not sure about the proportions but I decided not to worry.

I did have a wee party here on Friday night but ran out of time to take an outfit pic as I was rushing around preparing canapes and tidying up and I have some very punctual friends!! I wore a navy and cream patterned long skirt, a silky navy top, lots of sparkly jewelry and sandal boots.

Sally, jacket twin! You kept it, yay! I have worn mine heaps (including today). I find because it is fitted and looks so good closed (because of the funnel neck) that it layers well under another jacket or coat. I have worn mine under my Ombre jacket. Anyhow, it looks good on you (you are right about the posture). But unfortunately this means we can never go to the same rugby match
I like the cardi in no 1. It is a little hard to see the detail in the photo. I think including it in a sporty outfit is fun and unexpected.
No 3 is perfect.
No 4 looks good too. Proportions look good to me. I would add a long necklace, but that's what I always do! I like the split at the back.

I like the sequin cardi worn in a casual way like that. I think it's a hit.
The Witchery jacket is very cool and yes, doesn't different posture make you loose a size! I should take note, I'm a terrible sloucher.
#3 and 4 are fab. I really like your white sneaks.

And I love many of the clothes in Game of Thrones - the armour Cersei wore this week was spectacular. A great finale!!

I like to have a few things on mid winter as it is very dreary around here otherwise. So I hosted a mid winter drinks party, with about 12 women friends. We drank wine, ate rice paper rolls, Devils on horseback and smoked salmon blini and had lots of laughter.

I like all these except maybe the long office cardigan proportion. However I am frequently doing precisely this sort of thing to work from home when I'm chilly, so I cannot throw even a pebble.

Oooh! I really like the cardi as a casual piece. It has a sporty luxe vibe with the runners.

By the way, I can't get over how lovely your haircut is. It has a kind of natural sporty glamour that works well with this outfit. It's not "done" feeling yet it's a decided style. I think it works for you.

Very instructive about the posture, LOL. That jacket looks like a Lulu or Lole-type jacket. It will be useful for you.

Thank you Thirkelgirl - coral is probably my "best " colour and I do have several pieces in different shades of it.

Ummila - yes the perils of working from home!! If I had a meeting I would have chosen a jacket because I don't think that cardigan is right colourwise or shape wise.....the reality is I was doing some market research at home, and then went to a local cafe to do some reading on Safety Management and Risk Management........

Thanks Suz. I am not quite as happy with this haircut as the last, but it has been very humid/rainy so by the end of the day my hair looks a little frizzy. I did read Thirkelgirl's thread and realised I could do with changing up my products a little too to assist with this.

Posture- I am very shortwaisted and that sideways photo really shows my figure in a real but unflattering way. I see "before and after" weight loss/gym shots and often posture, lighting play a part in the evolution. I was surprised how I did lose a size or two by standing differently.

That's really interesting about your posture. It Is True That standing up straight really elongates your torso quite noticeably.

I think the funky back wrap top is a success.
I love the black pants and boots and how the boots are an extension of the pants. A very sleek look.

Sad but true, our mums were right when they told us to stand up straight!

Mothers usually do know best. I remind my sons that every week LOL.

Thanks Angie- I am leaning sporty at the moment, partly this is what I am liking in retail at the moment- but a large part due to my sons playing endless games of rugby tennis and soccer. And I am trying to do more steps so comfy flat shoes are important.
