Hi lovely ladies! Today I'm wearing pieces you've seen before, but not together in the same outfit, comprising neutrals both cool and warmish toned. Possibly the grey woollen tights may not be to everyone's taste, but it's tricky to pair legwear with my blue/grey checked skirt. The tights are by Falke and are soooo warm! I topped off the look with my Christmas present the Dawn Levy puffer parka, as I had a couple of errands to run today and we have cold northerly winds and snow showers.

Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

That skirt is fab, and I love the tights with it. Love how the boots complement both the colors contained in the pattern of the skirt as well as the warm cream of the sweater.

Great backdrop too, the red wall picks up the tones of your hair. That's good style AND good photography

This is lovely on you, Diane. It seems as if you were made to wear warm and cool neutrals together. The whole outfit is very cohesive and softly flattering. It is a way to sneak in the "feminine" even while you are wearing a more masculine print (tartan) and bundled up. Soft edge.

I think the tights are fantastic, by the way. They work perfectly with the skirt.

Suz, I like your analysis re-masculine and soft edge. I do feel that all my outfits need a certain amount of soft edge, be it in colour or texture or silhouette.

YLF Diane, it is not quite but reminds me of white outs, and so it's sophsticated and chic! You have slim legs, so grey tights look great on you, but I do understand your point about dilema on what else legwear to paired this skirt with. I have thicker calves, and so I nowadays only feel comfortable is black based (sheers, textured or opaques) tights, and I buy my winter sirts accordingly-love to have some black in them, to be related to that! Tricky, isn't it?:-)

I really want to lighten my wardrobe pallet by having light neutrals...it' was my new year resolution! (And one of those rare ones that seems easy to keep!). I have a lovely oyster cocoon coat that I got in the sales and I'm now looking out for a light blue duster coat for the spring.

Jane, it's funny you should talk about lightening up as I've been thinking about this too.... all this afternoon actually...you must have read my mind I'm craving light oatmeal shades, pale grey and cream. I love the look of them worn together in an outfit.

Gorgeous soft colors here. The tan shoes are perfect paired with grey. I always wondered what color shoes work with grey and you've answered my question!
