WIW: Neutral Animal - YouLookFab Forum

This is the debut of my new light weight knit black and white animal print tunic style pull over. I adore the weight of this pull over - light enough that I'm not going to melt in the overly hot office but enough weight that it feels right for fall/winter.

I paired the pull over with my white BF jeans, worn full length. I tried the tunic both semi tucked and untucked and decided to go untucked today for a change.

I chose my sand coloured suede wedge booties for footwear and then went with cognac for my jacket and handbag. Red specs and lip finish off the outfit. I'm loving the all neutral combination, especially the pairing of the white and cognac.

What do you think? Does this all work together? Should I have gone with semi tuck instead? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I think it is brilliant! I particularly like the untucked tunic with the jacket over. Beautiful, beautiful colors on you, Shannon. What a gorgeous sweater that is.

Gorgeous....you have such a good eye for what suits you, Shannon. Neutrals isn't the word that comes to mind with this outfit because the colours - though they are neutral - all have enough intensity and surface interest to give the outfit a lovely richness. I love it, especially your gorgeous jacket!

Looks absolutely fab:). I like the sweater worn this way. If you had worn a darker shoe I would suggest a semi tuck to lengthen the leg line but in this instance you don't need it. The cognac works so well with this combo, infact I adore cognac on you Shannon, it is a very flattering tone:)

I have to say that this cognac jacket was a bit of a wildcard for me since I don't usually go into the brown shades and yet I've worn it quite a bit already since I bought it a month or so ago and am loving it more every time I wear it.

Nice change to quieter colours for you ! Like the sweater over jeans just as is, but especially with the jacket over top. The jacket just pulls in the volume thaaaat much - enough to create some shape. What a great little jacket!

I love those booties - I wonder if they have them in black? Also great outfit with the white jeans. I just tossed my white jeans and was thinking I could wait until spring to buy new ones, but now I'm rethinking that strategy.

Beautifully done, Shannon. In this case, I like the untucked for the varied length of the toppers. As Deborah mentioned, this works partly due to the lighter boots.

And white pants always give a crisp look (except when one spills ketchup and strawberries on them). I could see Angie wearing a look like this. Come to think of it.....an Angie copy could be fun!

I saw the thumbnail and had to click to see this outfit. I like the tunic worn as a tunic, rather than semi-tucked. It's such a sleek look. The cognac bag and jacket are great with it, too--adds a richness to the outfit. Very lovely; nicely done!

Shannon, would it be weird to ask you the story of your wedding rings? I remember thinking it was unusual and beautiful and that there MUST be a story there.

Elly - I'm sorry I'm so late in replying to this thread. My goodness, there are just not enough hours in the day are there?

My wedding band....I have two. I have the original gold bands we exchanged on our wedding day 27 years ago but about 10 years ago, we went to visit a relative who lives just outside a Haida Band reserve. It was an absolutely idyllic place full of natural beauty and very untouched by mankind. We ended up one day speaking with one of the Elders and I noticed this beautiful silver ring he had on with some engravings. When I commented on it, he proceeded to tell me the meaning of the ring and its symbols. In the centre of the band, there is the beak and eyes of the Eagle, symbolizing the knowledge and wisdom, as well as the eyes for seeing into your heart and soul, and on either side of the Eagle, is an Orca whale's tail. The Orca is natural to the area of this Haida Band and although it doesn't mate for life, it is considered to be one of the most loving and social creatures Mother Earth created and therefore the two tails represent your endearing love for one another.

After our discussion I was so moved by his obvious love for the earth and his culture that I started to cry. He then asked us to come with him to the small jewelry store on the actual reserve and presented us both with the same bands. It's my favorite piece of jewelry ever.

Shannon, that is so beautiful......your ring sounds like a touchstone that takes you back to that place and those feelings. Wow. Just wow!
