WIW: Navy on Black - YouLookFab Forum

HI Ladies,

May I start by saying that upon seeing the photos, I did add a navy tank under the satin blouse to create more coverage. Please excuse me for not retaking the photos So with that in mind how does this work?

On Shannon's navy jacket post, I mentioned I had also purchased a navy jacket, thought it was all wrong and was going to Ebay it. I have been so busy that I really haven't had time to play with my clothes and I kept putting the jacket on (probably over my pj's) and thinking blah! Anyway today, feeling the need for something not black ( did I say that? ) I thought I would try the jacket over my black skinny pants. Layered the navy satin top under it and added a black with silver pendant and black crystal necklace. So (with the tweak of adding the tank) does this work.? Is this repeatable and is the jacket ok to keep (I have taken the tags off)?

I also had my hair cut and coloured today, returning to wearing a fringe, as per the collective advise of YLF and have gone a whiter shade of blonde, something I have been working towards slowly after some serious hair damage 4 years ago I am very happy with it, but am looking forward to washing and styling it myself in the morning.

I like navy and black together and on you. You style the jacket well so it does look good. I don't feel it is as interesting a shape as some of your other jackets though. Take that for what it's worth!

Navy and black work well together. I rather like the jacket. It is a little more classic than you your usual style, yet you have made it your own with a touch of edge.

Fruitful and Diane, yes the jacket is a little more classic but I quite liked the length and the particular style lapel as I felt it kind of mimiced a drape? The lower stance of the jacket appealed as well as I think it is good pants jacket?

Yes, I do get that drapey vibe from it! And I do like the almost trapezey shape in the first pic.

Actually, It's the long low stance roll collar that I think makes it more you Deb. And it reminds me a little of a smoking jacket. Very YSL!

No need to worry about the jacket, it looks great. But I know the feeling. I had the same doubt with my black and white striped jacket. I have given in : it looks nice. You just have to be a bit ore careful what to wear it with.
You have layered it fine.
(So nice to hear you say you wanted something different from black hahaha.)

Thanks so much for your comments:) It looks like the jacket is ok:) I think it will be a pant jacket as I think worn with a skirt the vibe will be more conservative. Once I was a never wear black and navy together girl, and now it's becoming one of my favourite combos... that's what YLF will do for you!

SO gorgeous Debs! I feel you are reading my mind! After that Angie post with fall ink blue, and black, I have been itching to try it and there you go showing the way....just love it. And love that do. Can I ask how much time you have to spend during the day touching it up so it stays so pretty and smooth? I am trying to higher my maintenance if you know what I mean.
