WIW: Navy Cardigan Two Ways - YouLookFab Forum

I added this merino/silk cardigan from Boden to my wardrobe this month and it's already becoming a workhorse.

Pic #1 is how I wore it for parent-teacher conferences earlier this week... with jeans and oxfords, over a mustard tank.

Pic #2 is what I wore today to work at home, with some walking errands. I paired it with one of my J.Crew Factory striped tees (which keeps shrinking upwards and stretching out of shape with each wash...it is not the one, it turns out), LOFT chinos with a messy roll, and Chuck Taylors. The Panama hat covers up my bad hair day. Oh, and I have on a 16-year-old cross body pouch with my leather coffee sleeve attached to the strap. Because... coffee.

I guess these could also both pass as more variations on the navy/mustard ensemble, now that I think about it.

Thoughs/comments/suggestions all welcome.

Both great looks. Funny, I was just thinking about adding a cardi or two back into the mix, but I'm undecided. They generally feel too unstructured for me. Today I am wearing a sweater jacket and it's even feeling too flowy for me (it is EF after all). I'm just in a funk I think, but YOU look super fab, I really love the stripes and shoes of #2.

These are both smashing Jenn. I love the flashes of skin in #1 (ankles, wrist, neck) adding a lightness to the look. Nice necklace too.#2 looks great as well. I like the repetition of blue and white and the colour of your pants looks great with the navy.

abc, I totally go back and forth on the structure thing, so I have both in my closet right now. I think it's a mood thing for me. Or maybe hormones. Sometimes, I'm just like, "My skin would not care to touch anything rough today."

I am finding the thinner medium-long cardigan (low hip) to be a good style. I have 2 colors that I will be wearing this winter and see how they work out. I have to size carefully for pear shape, though--size up but not too much.
I love the navy + that shade of brown--several names for it. Yes, need longer top--keep looking for "the one"!

Really liking the navy column in #1, with just the right amount of skin showing to keep it from looking too heavy. Very nice! I'd say that outfit has "soft structure". The second is also fun, much less structured. Do you wear belts much? I think a fun belt is in order for that one. Magic hat ftw

I'm sorry about the tee shrinkage. I've had good success with a Vince feeder stripe tee, but I only hang dry. I like darker colors, so mine has a black background with white stripes, but I see some of the others are now on sale. It was expensive but there was a price match when I purchased mine.

unfrumped, I feel like I have to be careful with this shade of brown, because it can end up looking a little Carhartt if I'm not careful. Nothing wrong with that look, but it's not what I'm going for. I waffled a lot on what shape of cardigan to get, but I found this one to be just a little geeky, which suited me.

Aida - I think I need to find more comfortable belts! I like them, but haven't been wearing them, because they're not comfortable enough. I have my eye out for a soft leather one and an embroidered one.

Tania, I'll admit, I don't feel particularly fashionably confident, but maybe my attempts at looking like I don't much care translate as confidence? That would be awesome, if so! I really like that Vince shirt and am going to save it for a future option. I've only cold-washed and air-dried this one, too, so the shrinking is particularly disappointing. However, I also refuse to be sucked into the merry-go-round of buying the same type of item over and over again in the search for perfection, so, while this shirt isn't the one, it's not unwearable either. I will enjoy it for what it is this season and look for other options (like the Vince) once it's served its time.

They both look great but I really like the mustard in #2. And I hate when shirts lose their shape like that! The perfect striped tee has been a HEWI of mine for a long time too.

Love them both. Not sure I could even pick a favorite, especially since I'm a sucker for stripes and my eye just goes to outfits with stripes.
