I have recently been keeping an eye out for an argyle sweater that works for my preferences, but despite the fact that it is trending, I’m not coming up with much.
Yesterday I reached into the archives of my closet to wear this 20+ year old sweater that my mom bought for me while we were out shopping. It’s the only argyle I have anymore, besides some socks. Miraculously, it somehow still fits me now. It’s actually a cardigan, but I don’t care much for cardigans anymore so I turn it backwards and wear the button side on back. It sits pretty well this way. I layered it over a JCrew tissue turtleneck for a little extra warmth.
Worn with my Nili Lotan jeans, which have proved to be such workhorses that they justified the high price tag. Also a pair of green Hispanitas boots that I bought in Spain. They are not quite four-miles of walking comfort but they work for a less strenuous day.
I was struck recently by how similar this new Vince sweater is to my very old one! The tag from mine is long gone, but I remember it was one of Macy’s old house brands. It’s perhaps not my absolute best green — I favor cooler shades — but I still like it and it’s very sentimental.
