WIW: my take on flares and trendy top

Angie inspired my work outfit today. I wore
black-and-white tweed wool flared trousers (Classiques Entier)
charcoal floral print silk peasant blouse (made by me)
charcoal high-low cashmere cardigan (360 Cashmere)
wine lace-up round-toe pumps (Naya)
light brown trench coat (Calvin Klein)
taupe hobo bag (Aunts & Uncles)

I left off the belt, because the pants don't have belt loops.

Thanks for the inspiration, Angie! and thanks all for looking. Ideas and thoughts welcome.

I love everything about this! The colors, the shoes the blouse and the SWEATER! Ah! (Crash helmet anyone?) I will say lack of belt loops has never kept me from plopping a belt on anyway.

Re Day Vies' comment, would you consider making belt loops by the method of buttonholing over embroidery floss? DYKWIM? That way they would not be obvious if you wanted to go beltless.

Penny, I could make belt loops like you suggest. Like the ones that used to be on shirtwaist dresses, right? I could then just tuck them into the pants if not in use. Glad my summer posts were inspiring to you--that's so nice to hear!

I totally love this outfit. I rarely notice small details but picked up on how the fullness at the bottom of the sleeves mimics the widening of the pant legs. I also like the small scale pattern in such pretty colors. I find high low to be hard to style and you nailed that too. Gorgeous.

Cocolion, you've pointed out a detail I didn't quite notice. I picked the shoes for the color, but I didn't think too much about how the style also went with the blouse.
Parsley, I did try and like the blouse untucked, too. I would definitely wear it that way. It pretty much hid any hint of a waist, though, so I went for the tuck to try to replicate the feel of Angie's idea. I especially like the blouse untucked with these pants, with my new gray leather Halogen jacket (pictured below in a different outfit).
