In spite of my plan to spend winter in pencil skirts and sweater dresses, I recently picked up the Ann Taylor Kate Refined Ankle Pants, in charcoal, and tried them out today with the lace blazer I picked up at a consignment store. I went for a cream on cream look on top with a silky blouse--in the past I would have gone for more contrast, but I now like the idea of close enough colors. Gold accessories, including a metallic belt my mother probably picked up at Marshall Fields in the 1950s. The outfit looked just a little staid and matronly to my eyes, so I went for high heeled black boots--instead of my usual flat moto boots--for a little dash. I tucked the pants into the boots and to my surprise they stayed tucked in, but I'm not sure what I think about the tucked-in look.

Photos 5 and 6 are with outerwear--the oversized Trouve coat that I bought back when I weighed more and also I wasn't so picky about fit, together with the scarf that leapt into my hand this morning.
