WIW: My first (with new coat)

I thought I'd finally bite the bullet and post my first WIW. I'm usually found weaing some variation of jeans and a cardigan, so this waist-surrendering tunic plus patterning leggings combo is a bit unusual for me. But it was super cozy for a day working in the lab and now a lazy evening at home. Sorry in advance for the bad lighting (hence the second, close up pic for color and pattern)!

Also making its debut is the new down coat I picked up last weekend to replace one of my old winter coats which is now too big on me. I was hooked by the light, tweedy body and contrasting dark sleeves. And tomorrow is supposed to be snowy and well below freezing, so I expect it to get lots of wear in the near future.

What a cool coat! I love tweed and had no idea you could get down tweed coats. It looks super warm. Your outfit seems so nice and cosy too: I love the texture and colour playing. And those are some rocking boots.

Thanks ladies for all your support! I guess posting a WIW is a lot like ripping off a bandaid - just get it over and done with.

I'm actually looking forward to the snow just so I can weat this coat regularly. I like the contrast between the netural colors with the color blocking. Fun, but not too loud. Exactly where I want my style to go!

Fun, but not too loud? You're right on target for your style goal. The colorblocking in the coat is modern, and relaxed, but structured, fit is fresh and flattering. The proportions in your legging outfit are spot on, and the rich boots and bit of rich color near your face raise the bar!

Sorry for bumping this back up with a late reply, but I finally got a chance to check the fourms today and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all your nice and thoughtful comments. It definitely makes we willing to do this again!

It sounds like everyone agrees that the coat was a worthwhile buy, and it held up well in -15C weather today. I'd never heard of this brand before moving to Canada, but everything I've seen by them is lovely and I kind of want to buy all of their coats now.
