WIW: MOTG On the Town

Hello Ladies!

I am a regular reader but sporadic participant....trying to get more engaged with the forum this year.

This is WIW to my husband's company dinner in Chicago last night. I rarely ever get to dress up, so this was a treat!

Not a very fashion forward look, but was able to update it through what I've gleaned here at YLF....the Leopard shoes and platinum clutch hopefully modernized my old Eileen Fisher jacket and basic ponte sheath.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions for the future.... Oh, and I'm already back home after the ball back to reality in North Dakota with my children gathered around.....it was a great, but fast trip to fantasy land!

This looks absolutely perfect for a "corporate wife" occasion. It can be challenging when one only has to dress in this manner now and then. Super well turned out!

The jacket and sheath are quality classics, and the perfect foundation for any outfit! The shoes are a terrific way to warm up the look and do a nice job of bookending, too; the clutch is gorgeous! You look great.

NDmom - "not a very fashion forward look" ? gosh girl, we have to get you a new mirror!! I looked at your photo prior to reading you post and my first thought was "wow!!" First your hair cut it divine and so flattering and the glasses are powerful and perfect. I don't follow the show but I love Claire's look in "House of Cards" http://www.buzzfeed.com/avambu.....ds-is-9d2p Which translates you are the epitome of elegance!! Then I love your swing coat!! I have seen EF make them but it looks edgy, elegant, refined but uncontrived (that may go on my wish list). So great on you!! Love your pops of gold in the acessories - this is after all your metal and the leopard pumps look fabulous and bookend your hair beautifully. You need to get Robin Wright's agent on the phone, I think you should be picked as her new understudy!! Fabulous!!

love the way you have used the accessories to punch up the dress. that jacket is just great , and the whole look works so well together!
isn't it nice to have a reason to dress up, really dress up, every once in a while!

Ladies..... I was hoping I pulled off the bookending.....The leopard shoes, Donald Pliner, were on sale through 6pm. Then, found the leopard necklace at Macy's very cheap after Christmas. The only thing I splurged on was the clutch....Longchamp. Your comments are too kind.

Mia....you are so right! I used to dread these parties being the "corporate wife", but now with YLF, I am way more confident! I even had some younger gals there compliment me. That is a huge boost to an almost 50 year old SAHM!

Beth Ann.....Thanks....I am glad now that this wasn't purged as I was intending....it really can be modernized as it is a classic with enduring power. Chicago was cold, but great!

Gryffyn.....You not only ask the best questions on the forum, but give such wonderful feedback. I haven't seen this show or actress....but thank you! We only get to have Disney or sports shows on at our house. I really think you and I would have a blast shopping as we seem to like the same items.....tunics, long jackets, leggings..... Please post a picture one day; I would love to see you!

NDMom - you are much too kind!! Thank you!! FYI - Robin Wright was also the actress who played Princess Buttercup in "The Princess Bride" but that was before she cut her hair!! I think it would be awesome to shop with you, it sounds like we do have a very similiar aesthetic (esp liking things that are not always mainstream like long jackets and leggings.) I had to chime back in again to tell you, that you looked so awesome in your EF jacket that I just ordered a similiar one on sale at Nordies. I'm not sure I can pull it off with your panache, but I'm going to give it a try!! Many thanks for the inspiration!!

Gryffin, Wow....thanks for letting me know. I don't think I have ever been a fashion inspiration to anyone. I love EF clothing that is long and shaped. Love the long over lean aesthetic.

And, I am sure you will be stunning in your coat! Can't wait to see it on you!
