Here's an Eileen Fisher dress with my purple Docs. UWPish bendy necklace too. Does this work? Thanks for any feedback!

Love the necklace, love the boots, love the sunnies. Do they go with the dress, yes, I think so.

It is really that the dress itself does not remind me of your style. The rest helps bring it closer to what I normally see you wear, but still seems a bit off to my eye. However, it works as a change of pace, and I imagine UWP is hard at the office.

Yes, this is a work dress for sure. I actually like the bit of waist surrender and easy fit, considering it's a DRESS. I think it would be more me worn as a tunic with skinnies, but alas, the office calls.

Yes! Pure fabness. Not sure why it works so well, but I'll venture to guess the necklace shows it's deliberate; the necklace is arty (like Eileen Fisher can be arty-classic), so it goes wonderfully with the dress and the Docs.

I think the docs work with the dress stylewise, I'm just not sure because of the colors. You have all that black on top and then the purple at the bottom. Maybe with leggings/tights that aren't solid black to break this up a bit?

I think this totally works and I would wear it in a second - in fact, the more I see of this dress the more I want one like it. You're also making me want another pair of Docs...

I like that the dress and tights are black and the boots are purple - it's like a type of colour block IMO.

I wouldn't change a thing!

Ceit, I consigned the purple blazer. It was such a struggle! I've decided that j. crew jackets just don't fit me well, at least their standard cuts. My cropped orange jacket is an exception!

I am wearing my purple glasses!

Nice! I love those bendy necklaces. I like the purple Docs with your purple glasses! Seriously, don't you have to wear a topper in the office? I'd freeze for sure.

This looks perfect! I think this is a great example of the Docs working to bring in some UWP to a work appropriate outfit. I'd like to see the dress over skinnies with a funky jacket for "off duty" Una.

Suz, this is a merino wool dress - it's pretty warm and honestly, I detest layering sleeves! I have a slip on under it. And a huge cashmere shawl at my desk. I don't freeze as much as you'd think... must be my blood has thickened!

Love this! Do you think that "classic" items make a better canvas for juxtaposition with other styles? I'm not sure, I'm just throwing it out there.

I think it works. I'd like to see this with dark purple tights, but I like it just fine the way you are wearing it. Office UMP!

I'd love to see a sleek black tall boot with this. It may not create the UWP vibe you want but I think it would look sleek with a bit of edge.

That dress looks like a great blank slate that can be the basis of a wide variety of styles. I'd also like to see sleek tall boots with it but that may not be your style.

Una, my apologies. Looks like maybe Joy (hope she doesn't mind me speaking on her behalf) and I might have been projecting our more modern classic preferences:). I would certainly be more inclined to wear a tall sleek boot, or even a black ankle boot that elongated the leg. I love the Docs but to my eye this is not quite hitting the mark Re outfit proportions....but this is purely my opinion.

No apologies necessary, Deborah! I value your opinion highly. And you may be right about the height of the boots and dress length.

Your feedback about sleeker boots was exactly my reason for posting - this is clearly a juxtaposition. I wonder if some of us favor outfits that have consistent style, while others ilke to mix it up more?

I like this, Una. And those Docs are so fab. I think the simplicity of the dress will allow you to repeat different versions of this outfit - others have suggested your purple blazer or purple tights.... You've got lots of options!
Again, the Docs. Whew! So fab.

Una, the juxtaposition works 100%.

But even non-modern, non-classic moi is not too sure about the point at which you have the boots switching colour from the rest of the outfit. Maybe it's a 1/4 proportion overall or something --- and I daresay it could be a matter of camera angle as well --- but I keep itching to have the colour move higher (coloured tights or skinnies, as you mentioned?) or move down (booties instead of boots or maybe black or pewter boots?).

I think purple tights or even anther dark color would work better than black in this case. The issue I am having is that the top part looks very polished and dressy and to contrast with the docs you need more, well, contrast!
