WIW: Mesh sweater pastel to mid-tone ombre & other WIWs

First 2 pics: I'm not sure I'm loving this or if it is me. I'm not sure if it is because white & pastels are new for me, as is blue (apart from denim) or if it isn't my style. I already had this sweater so after Angie's posts on pastels & midtones & mesh sweaters I thought I would try it. I'm wearing an ink blue denim jacket (that is really twill not denim) with ink blue chucks. My white chucks made me feel like I was going to paint a house or some other kind of all white uniform wearing worker, it didn't look right so I didn't even photograph it. I like white chucks with white jeans on pinterest but they are usually cropped with skin showing. Is there too much scrunch at bottom of these jeans? They are super long & while I like the scrunch should I shorten them for less scrunch?

Other pics: I have a couple of other WIWs that were in the Winter that I never got to post. They were both going out for dinner outfits. First of the dinner outfits is black skinnies, black dolman sweater with mesh at top & black leather trim military jacket & booties. Other one is dark blue skinnies, brown sweater, brown velvet blazer, pearls & booties.

All great outfits! I like the ombre sweater styled with the white jeans and ink blue sneaks--nice, laid back look. I like it even better with the jacket, but I think it's because I like the added polish. You could also try the ombre sweater with dark jeans, so the color of the entire outfit intensifies from top to bottom.

Your going out looks are smashing! I like the detail of the mesh shoulder on the sweater in 3 and the velvet blazer in 5. Can't see the details too well in 4, but the silhouette is great on you!

I like how the ombre sweater looks with the white jeans (which don't look too scruchy to me, but I am on Team Lots Of Scrunch). Your white Chucks would work well with the outfit as in #1, but I quite like the darker pair with the jacket in #2 (picks up on the jacket perfectly). If you're still not sure about the all-light pairing, you could also try pairing with darker jeans and then using your white Chucks (or other light footwear) to add some springy lightness; could also work with flared faded jeans. And great going out looks, I especially like #3!

Regarding the ombre, what is bothering you about it? I quite like #2 -- nice balance of light, dark, and shade. But the neckline (as seen in #1) is bothering me for some reason. Does it tend to slip off your shoulders? Or maybe I prefer to see a cleaner neckline without the undergarment strap showing, unless it's obviously intentional.

I love your going-out outfits! The booties + skinnies make your legs look like they go on forever

Cciele, it does slip off the shoulders. It isn't my intention but probably the intention of the design. I don't mind too much because I am wearing a cami that is not underwear. I only wear these type of camis as underwear but people wear them on their own.

The ombre sweater I admit I don't love so much. I find the shape awkward, esp. the neckline...

Rachylou, I also find that my hair & complexion look better in darker colours & was wondering what to do about Spring/Summer. Do you think I can wear dark colours for Spring/Summer as long as there is something light coloured in my outfit? I don't have to jump on the white on white trend if it doesn't suit me or I could wear white head to toe with a dark or bright scarf, though scarves make me hot in Summer. Emmanuelle Alt is one of my style icons & I see her wearing a lot of dark colours with her white. Like mostly black. I have seen her in a light blue blouse with white jeans but she still bookends her hair with black sandals & belt. It seems that might be in high Summer as she is without a jacket altogether & in sandals.

Love your elegant black outfits for going out! So sleek. As for the pastels, I think you wear them well and although I am normally not a fan of a lot of scrunch, it works here. It's when scrunch looks more like big folds that I don't like scrunch.

I think the sweater looks really good, though I don't have enough of a handle on your style yet to help say if it is you. I like it with the white jeans... hm, I could stand a little less scrunch, but this amount isn't bad. Your going out outfit is super sleek and edgy - really fun to see the day-to-night transition!

Actually, you know, navy used to be a traditional color for spring. Myself, I'm liking the idea of forest green for spring (I saw a lot of it for Fall 2013, but it says spring to me). Black sandals always come out for summer too. And hey! Those nomads in the desert always wear black. I think it's more about fabric weight than colour.

Your long white dress is great tho (still going on about that too!).

Oh, it occurs to me that maybe what the white-on-white outfits could use is some toughening up. Any leather bracelets or the like?

Yes RachyLou navy is a nautical colour & also is used for red, white & blue around July 4th in the US so it is worn in spring/summer, but with white alone or white & yellow, white & red.

I can just wear a black moto or ink blue denim jacket with my white outfits, unless it is too hot. I could wear a coloured top with white jeans. Now in NY people tend to wear black all year round. I think it is because they would be filthy if they wore white.
