WIW: Me time + Anthropologie - YouLookFab Forum

So yesterday was the first of Sunday "me times" DH and I have created. So while DH watches Sunday football with baby, I go out on my own. It's my chance to dress up in non-breastfeeding outfits, haha, so I put on my hi-lo chintz dress, my TSE cashmere cardi and a profusion of faux pearls (anyone else who looks awful with a single strand of pearls but just fine with multiple strands?). I also have my Old Navy maternity coat which I've worn to death and would repurchase if I find the same style with better quality. It was too dark at home so I took a photo in the elevator

I was just going to go for a walk but I got sucked into the newish Anthropologie store, specifically their sale rack, and came home with two items, a blush blazer and a pink shift dress (2). The blush blazer I am not sure how to style yet but I will read Angie's suggestions closely. The pink dress is not as much of a hot pink as in the photos but more a saturated salmon pink. The brightness gave me pause but it has my favorite style of cap sleeve. And I think I can style it with a dark topper to tone down the brightness (4 and 5). Any other ideas on how to style a bright dress?

I am sort of scared of bright colours, so I usually tone them down with a lot of greys and navy - and I find dark leather helps settle it as well.

Good find on the blazer; they're out of my size here

The Me Time sounds superb, and well deserved! I can only imagine what it would be like to have an Anthropologie within walking distance. Dangerous is a word that comes to mind...I love the blush jacket. It looks versatile. As for the dress, the color is very pretty on you, even the brightness. I don't mean to be a killjoy, but have you considered whether or not it will still fit you when you're through breast feeding?

Thanks Claire and Beth Ann! Claire, you are not a killjoy at all but an inspiration. I do consider the fit, so I stay away from tailored dresses. This dress is in my size (M) but has stretch, which is why it fits. As i get back to my old shape, it should get looser, which will be a plus. It's a nice thing to have things that fit. I will try to wear this through winter

Good for you for dressing up for "me time". I too can't imagine being within walking distance to shopping...very dangerous! I love the color of the dress. One of the hardest things for me while BF was not being able to wear shift dresses. Will you have enough opportunity to wear it?

Thanks LACeleste and AviaMariah! AviaMariah, it's true that I have to dress for bfing which i find pretty restrictive. But I've realized that I can still wear my dresses for short bursts e.g, walking the baby, weekend me times, etc, And my sister's wedding is in a few months so this will be a bright and cheerful option for daytime (wedding's in the tropics). I'm on Team Wear so where there's a will, there's a way!
