WIW: Making it work with the boot

This orthopedic boot is like a piece of jewelry, or an awesome handbag. I just need to think of it that way and outfit creation becomes simple. Here's one of my favorites from this week. I like it because it was perfect for work, comfortable, warm, and the socks were fun. Maybe funny?

That is some great "boot" style. I think whatever you put a suede moto over must instantly look cool. (Although I realize that's not true; I don't think I'd say it about pajamas.) But I love the color, the whimsy of the socks, pattern-mixed with the print bag (and the patterned tights, which I can't make out in the photo). The sneaker is chic-looking, too.

LOL! Bj1111, Joy, I just realized I captured a halfway decent smile while taking a pic with my cell phone! I have no idea how I did it, and it may never happen again, but to be honest, I think I may half smiling and half grimacing in pain. No crutches in the pic!

Cococat, I supposedly have to keep the boot for 6 weeks. I have a Lisfranc Injury. My guess is it could be longer or shorter depending on my pain level and compliance with babying my foot. The idea is to give my midfoot ligaments some time to firm up again, and for all the inflammation to go away. I don't believe torn ligaments ever heal or function the same again, but pain reduction can happen, and hopefully, the injury isn't so bad that I am left with chronic problems. (It didn't look that way on CT, but it's hard to know since this is the second midfoot injury I've had). Any experts feel free to weigh in.....

Fabulous, SF. You rock an ortho boot like nobody's business. I hope your foot heals soon, that must be so frustrating for you as a runner and all-around active person. Sending healing wishes your way--and keep on looking awesome to lift your spirits.

I love the sneaker/boot pairing. Totally agree that stripy socks are the only thing to wear with this. I reached the same conclusion when I had to wear a knee brace. Like Angie says, you need to own it, and wear it with aplomb. Great look.
