I don't own a sweater vest, which is an oversight I intend to fix at some point. I've always enjoyed the look of them. So instead, I wore what I describe as a sleeveless cardigan over a black blouse/shirt (it has a collar and buttons but it's soft and silky) with my boot cut jeans and saddle shoes (which have more of a point than any of my other shoes do). They're both items I haven't worn in quite some time, so I was very glad for the inspiration. I thought about adding a pendant or a short statement necklace like I've seen worn with collared shirts, but I decided against it because I didn't want to worry about adjusting it all day. I liked it. I felt dapper. Dapper is good sometimes.
I've also been growing the top of my hair out so I can spike it with a little mousse and I've been really enjoying it. Ever since I buzzed it short in December I've felt so free. I never have to think about it, I just shower, comb with mousse, and go. Some women really enjoy styling their hair and I just don't have the patience for it at all! I felt the same way when I had long hair when I was a kid. It was down, or it was in a ponytail or pushed back with a headband. I didn't do braids or twists or buns, except on very rare occasions (and I had to get someone to do it for me because I wasn't very good at it due to a general lack of practice). When people ask me why I decided to go so short, I said that it's been getting shorter and shorter since I was 15 and I guess this is the ultimate destination. A friend said "well, I can think of one more" and I replied that I was NOT going to shave my head completely. Some women look stunning with no hair, but I'd feel naked.
