WIW: Lightening Up for Spring

Today is beautiful spring day -- 74F and no wind (a rarity for us), and I enjoyed bringing out an outfit that feels like spring. I'd worn the white jeans with a heavier sweater on a cooler day, and the top with black bottoms, but they're quite nice paired together, I think.

Top - Loft (Fall 2018)
Jeans - Ann Taylor (thrifted)
Shoes - SoftWalk (Fall 2018)

I've determined that (for me, at least) looking at photos of myself is analogous to listening to a sound recording of my own voice. It never looks (sounds) quite like I think it does because I'm not objective. Guess that's just something I have to desensitize myself to!

Looks happy! Yes desensitising is the way to go, I’ve got used to seeing my short plump self!

You look great! Beautiful smile, great hair, the top looks excellent on you and, my only suggestion, is try white or pink or light shoes to bookend your hair.

Thank you for the compliments, shevia. I initially reached for my favorite platinum bookend-my-hair flats, but decided to try for a graphic look with the black belt and black flats. Too harsh a contrast, then? I think I need to get a platinum-ish belt to coordinate with the flats. The only metallic belt I have is silver, and the finish has worn off so much it's not really even wearable anymore. Guess I've found a wardrobe hole!

I was going to suggest trying lighter shoes and belt, and see that shevia beat me to it. The black is graphic, and great, so it’s more a suggestion if you want to change it up a bit.

Thank you, taylor, for your compliments. A compliment on my hair from a stylist is high praise indeed! The watch is one of my favorite accessories - it's was an anniversary gift from my husband (though I picked it out!) a couple of years ago.

Kathie, I'm glad you support the graphic look also. I was hoping to have a couple of slightly different looks from the same top/jeans combo.

Mainelady, you are right, of course. I WOULD think it looks fab on anyone else. And I wouldn't be worried about how her figure looked.

Pretty-love the blouse! Agreeing with the lighter shoe-belt idea though. Metallic, grey, taupe, cognac, or even burgundy would be nice too

You just make me feel happy looking at this picture - absolutely lovely and spring like. I too cringe a bit at selfies "like what am I thinking..." so you are not alone on that one. However, real women wearing real clothes is what it is about - you look awesome and have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Thanks, runcarla. My specs are new. The brand is Jimmy Choo. Pricier than I would have liked, but my daughters insisted the #2 choice was nowhere near as good as these, so I had to cough up the extra!
