Yet another holiday party yesterday. I couldn't decide which coat to wear (see alternative in pic 4) and finally braved the leopard teddy (pic 1&2). I purchased this coat last year at H&M while shopping with my daughters. It was a total impulse purchase. And this is the first time I've worn it.

I hate to say it but it's probably the last time.... because it just felt too over the top for me. Especially when after the party we hit McDonald's as we were starving. Hubby and I were jokingly calling it the "hooker" coat. It was nice and warm (was 40-50 degrees yesterday). And it's soft. And it fits. But... it's so loud. Or maybe it's how I had it styled?

You may remember this blouse as I have the same one in a houndstooth check print. I saw it available in red (this is a more orangey red but I still think it works) and on massive sale so I snapped it up. These are my other pair of white boots -- they are heeled not flat.

I LOVE that you hit McDonalds in your holiday look. Why the heck not!

I prefer the outfit with the red coat just a little more. KILLER. But I’m glad you took the “hooker coat” out for what sounds like a final spin. Festive.

Shiny I have a leopard coat and so understand how you can feel over the top in the print. I think it is fun. You could calm it down with denim or a column of black. I love the red coat, that is stunning on you.

I like your coat. I would try it with a black turtleneck underneath to tone it down a bit. Also, I like a leopard coat paired with a simple white shirt and jeans.

The second pair is Impo -- can't remember whether they are the Nixxie or Noria. They are vegan leather/pleather but I like that as they can be cleaned easily and will stand up to salt better. I find this brand to be very comfortable and the heel is modest. You might remember I also have similar in black and leopard which I wear constantly and have for years now. These are looser around the ankles so that took some getting used to but as you can see pants or jeans tuck right in. Just can't wear pants over the top of them, as I do with my other Impo booties. Kind of feel brave tucking black pants into them as it's such a high contrast and leg shortening but I figure it's JFE.

I also just duplicated the white Blair's since I am wearing them constantly and realized I'd be sad if I didn't have a back-up.

As for the leopard coat, I've always said I love animal print, just not in wide swathes like a top or sweater or coat. I prefer animal print in smaller doses (belt, shoes, bag). So this was definitely a whim but it just confirms my original preference. The coat was dirt cheap (on clearance) so it was an inexpensive test. I think I wouldn't mind so much a teddy coat in a solid color. Or perhaps in a flat print like your Boden coat, but even then I'm dubious. I am going to hold on to it through this season as if it's warm in February I may be able to wear it for our formal event as a topper over a maxi gown. That even is "creative" formal and people have a lot of fun so this would be perfect-- if it isn't subzero freezing temps with snow on the ground, like it usually is.

Otherwise I fear I wouldn't feel comfortable in it even if I dressed it way down. But I may give it one last try with some of these suggestions.

Irina, I don't do turtlenecks, ever. My neck is short and wide and my chin is weak... turtlenecks are not a good look and I don't find them comfortable either. They just feel distractingly itchy and constraining.

I think the coat would work dressed down with jeans. You do look great in the red coat.

I think that’s why I don’t have any leopard anything. I don’t think of hooker, I think Golden Girls.

try the leopard coat with a outfit where it is the only trendy item...i think you'll feel differently about it...

I like the leopard coat on you in the pic but understand it may push too far out of your comfort zone. I think you should give it another spin with a more casual outfit per suggestions above. Maybe a low mock neck? I feel my neck is shortish and mocknecks still feel JFE and comfortable. Maybe a column of one of the earth tones in the pattern?

The red coat is fab as are the white boots.

I think you look great in the leopard coat - but YOU have to love it. I love you in the red coat!

I find leopard difficult to wear. I feel like I look like Peg Bundy from Married With Children with my red hair... I keep it to a shoe or clutch or belt.

I actually love the leopard but maybe tone it down with flat boots and a simpler top to put it in your comfort zone? Still -- I get it. I was tempted by a snow leopard teddy coat this year but let it go for similar reasons. I just didn't think I'd wear it.

It’s a lovely coat. I think you should give your coat another try with pale/pastel colors underneath and see if you like it better.

First off love the red, pearls and white boot combination on you. I understand your mixed feelings about wearing leopard - I have a snow leopard coat and don't wear it that often either. But I am working on it !

It is a fun coat! I would like to see it with jeans and a graphic tee under.... or over an lbd for a formal event.
But that red coat is so perfect on you and would require almost no effort to style so..... yeah. Practicality usually wins....

I have a faux fur leopard coat and know what you mean about the over-the-top nature. If you decide to give it another go, I suggest dressing it down as much as you can. Ripped up jeans, or joggers, or slim pants with cool sneakers.

My son says mine should never be worn with a dress, for example, because then I look like "a little old lady from the Upper East Side."

Would you stop? You are knocking it out of the park lately with these outfits, and this one is no different. I love this and you are so cute in it - perfect for this time of year! I just choked on my coffee at the idea of hookers in McDonalds lusting over your coat.....lol! It does not look hookerish - just trendy and interesting . That all said, I wear all kinds of crazy outerwear and would love to own this coat , so...take my comments with a grain of salt

Shiny, that red coat is fabulous! Hope I can borrow it sometime. I think you look stylish in that leopard coat but it's all about how you feel..maybe dress it down with a different necklace and darker boots? The red coat is my favorite out of your two posted pics. Im waiting for those Blair booties to land on my front doorstep after you raved about them a week or so ago and then Angie walked them over to Finds. Mine are a metallic burnished silver color titled " smoke" so I'll plan to meet you at McDonalds one night so we can both look smoking hot!

BJ, they are the Blair's by Naturalizer. Google and you'll find them at multiple places, including Amazon, where they are listed as a sneaker bootie.

In retrospect it probably was the combo of pearls, red, white booties AND leopard that put the outfit over the top. This particular holiday party was at a dear friend's house and I felt safe going over the top -- until we swung by McDonald's later.

The red coat is a few years old now, from Ann Taylor. Unfortunately it's not all that warm and has 3/4 sleeves. It's really meant for Spring/ Fall temps, not winter. Which is why at the last minute I pulled out the leopard coat as it is much warmer.

Perhaps it was the white boots, or/and the white pearls peaking out from under (alltogether with the red top) a bit too much for the fast food? I say don't shy away from such a gorgeous and so comfy coat and wear it next time with all blacks/some jeans/dark footwear but who cares for Mc Donalds??? I'm sure you was perfect for the party, isn't it!!:-)

The leopard coat looks so soft and warm, and agree with the others about trying to style it in more casual ways. I dont think of it as hookerish, just trendy, as long as its not paired with 6 inch platform heels!
