I actually got dressed in an outfit today. It only lasted 15 minutes, as plans were cancelled by the other party due to a sick kiddo. At least it gave me the chance to briefly test drive my new dress and coat. Made it to the local grocery store for a quick errand before realizing I had missed the text to cancel/reschedule plans. So, I bought my apples and tootled home. Got home and changed into sweats. It's been a very negative, difficult week and wearing a dress all day just didn't appeal to me. I will spare you a long story but the summary is, I have spent the last 5 days commuting 2.5 hours for a usual 20 min drive, wading through thousands of tourists blocking the roads with illegal parking and walking in the roads, and the actual streets overflowing with human sewage and doggie bags tossed everywhere, I have come to abhor the big city leaf peeping tourists. I'm so tired of it I came home Monday after another painful commute, leaned my head on my husband, and cried for 5 solid minutes.
Anyway, onto happier things.
The dress is new. I adore the print and colors. It's very nice quality. Medium weight rayon fabric. Only thing missing is pockets, sadly. But otherwise, it's lovely. This is my 5th puff or flutter sleeve dress, and I'm starting to feel satiated by the feminine romantic sleeve detail and romantic, slight cottage-core vibe. I feel ready to move onto some shirt dresses or pencil skirts. Nonetheless, I enjoy this dress immensely and I'm sure it will get wear time this autumn and winter.
Leopard trench coat is brand new, as of this week. I have been wanting and missing leopard in my life ever since my beloved silk leopard scarf bit the dust. Imagine my shock and surprise when this leopard trench coat popped up on my screen. And for $20 on clearance! My mom budget squealed with delight!
The coat is very nice quality. It's lined with medium-weight satin fabric. The coat fabric itself is some kind of gently texturized waterproof material. Reminds me of those waterproof jackets from the early 2000s, where the exterior fabric was heavyweight, slightly satin with texture finish and the jacket was almost always belted. They were very popular. (Anyone remember them?)
I have come to really love Sofia's Walmart line. While it's a lot of polyester fabrics, I find the quality of sewing and details to be quite good. The line is also nicely cut and designed for those figure 8 and hourglass shapes. Very flattering pieces. I'm not sure who is designing things for her, but they're doing a great job.

Trench coat: Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergaras for Walmart
