WIW: Leather Leggings (who cares what else?)

That's exactly how I feel about these pants - it almost wouldn't matter what else I wear, they automatically up the FAB factor for me to +10. (I've started keeping notes per another poster's suggestion, and rating outfits on a scale of negative 10 to positive 10, based on how they make me feel. I think it's really helping the evaluation process!) Anyway, the pants: obviously they are not real leather, they were on clearance at Kohl's for $17.99. I love the equestrian style breeches look (the inner leg panel), having ridden for a long time, anything with a horsey touch totally gets me. They fit perfect, with just the right amount of stretch in the right places, specifically they don't flatten my rear which is sometimes an issue of tight pants for me. I'm someone who likes my pants to be either "painted on" or intentionally loose fitting like wide leg or classic trousers. To avoid the Ross from Friends situation, and also because it's been below zero with wind chill here lately, I put on a silky pair of tights first, and they slipped right on no problem.

Ok, fine, the tops: The floral tunic was purchased at Kohl's with the pants, although I hadn't expected to wear them together. It has a nice scoop neck which is one of my favorite necklines, and cute scrunching on both sides. The drapey thing was thrifted, I have no idea what to call it. Cardiscarf? Drapegan? This is my first wear, and I feel ok about it... still evaluating. I feel like the side profile is a bit odd. But I like that it adds an extra layer and is like having a cardigan AND a scarf.

Suede stiletto booties you've seen a few times before, and I just realized they sort of match the inner leg panel. I probably shouldn't be wearing them but I don't have a lot to do at work today so less walking about on them, and I just couldn't bear to do flats with these pants, not today. I really wanted the extra va-voom factor.

Last, the accessories: Did my go-to hair and makeup, I like that my lips match the Scarfdigan. Necklace is just a teensy bit goth to me, and I finally found an extra pair of backs for these earrings that actually holds them on. I almost lost one the last time I wore them and would have been devastated. They are from a flea market.

Opinions, criticism, thumbs-up/down, any feedback is appreciated oh and if you feel inspired to throw out some "descriptors" that would be amazing.

Totally OT ... I'm in a good mood, feeling witty and happy, must be the extra half-codeine I took for my back today lol

I hesitate to post anything critical with you in such a good mood but I have to admit I don't feel the same love for this outfit with the leggings. But I don't love body con on anyone truth be told - so take my comments with that in mind. To my eye, a slightly more fluid, longer tunic would be better with the leggings. The color of the deep burgundy is great up by your face - makeup and everything else is great.

You sound super happy with your purchases! I love that dark red on you! Gorgeous. And I don't think there is any issue with side view whatsoever. Edgy and pretty at the same time.

LOLing at "Cardiscarf" and "Drapigan"...

I'd choose a longer top for myself for this - I'd probably feel self-conscious without that - but I think you pull this outfit off. I can see why you feel awesome in those leggings. The floral is fab though especially with the colours in the "drapigan" and really pulls this all together for me.

Texstyle - no worries, I totally get what you are saying! I can see how a looser fitting top might be more appropriate... I was thinking the same myself. My *ahem* judgement does tend to be off sometimes
I can't wait to find other ways to wear them!

tr3kkie9rl, this really has a lot of va-va-voom! You look beautiful in this outfit, but I also agree with some of the other comments that a looser and/or longer top might have been better for the context. I could see this outfit for a night out--you look like a rock star! But maybe for work, I would tone down the leggings, especially if you want to wear the stilettos.

I love the colors and pattern combo. And I also laughed when reading your post! Scarfdigan! Plus... the Ross episode! That episode always makes me laugh even if I know what's coming.

You look amazing in this outfit. I love the scarfdigan and now want one myself! In that color, too, please. I would be self-conscious in this outfit for work and would reserve it more for going out, where the va-voom factor seems more at home. It's the pants/leggings that make it more body-conscious than I would wear for work. I would wear the tops paired with a slim skirt and the booties, no problem. Funny, huh?

I really like the outfit. Just something about it. You could probably sand the edges a nano with a shirt with a rounded hem, but there's something very appealing to me about the floral and the leather leggings.

Can't beat a good pair of faux leather leggings in general.

Also, the cardi scarf is most excellent!

Rachlou what do you mean by a rounded hem? This shirt is slightly round at the bottom due to the scrunch, but maybe not pronounced enough?

Love the juxtaposition of a pretty floral print with edgy leather and the cardiscarf is fabulous - gorgeous Color on you. I personally find this a bit body con for the office, particularly when combined with stilettos. But I also don't know what your office dress norm is so maybe this is ok.

As Shannon just said. Lovely colours and use of textures, but a bit "sexy" or body con for an office look. That scarfish thing is very cool

Like others said, a bit body con for the office, but then I don't know where on the spectrum of corporate-to-casual your work is situated. Riding boots vs stilettos might be an interesting alternative. Also a riding style jacket (Angie does them!) might be fun.

That said, this is a very put together look, and you DO look fab and completely coherent top to toe. I LOVE your very clever cardi-scarf. It has elements of a shrug or vest as well.

Rating how outfits make you FEEL on a scale of 10 is genius. Even my husband and boys use the fab-o-meter when shopping now...

Mmm, a more pronounced rounded hem, like in this pic below. Sadly, tho, I couldn't find a pic of a dark floral knit with such a hem - I can't find a good dark floral in stores either, and I really like that.
